    Abstract: A driving apparatus includes: an inverter unit generating a three-phase alternating-current voltage from a direct-current voltage in accordance with a drive signal based on a voltage command and outputting the three-phase alternating-current voltage to a permanent-magnet motor, the permanent-magnet motor including a permanent magnet; a current detection unit detecting a motor current flowing through the permanent-magnet motor; and a control unit generating the voltage command to control an operation of the inverter unit and estimating a temperature of the permanent magnet to perform a protection operation on the inverter unit on the basis of the motor current and an overcurrent protection threshold. The control unit sets the overcurrent protection threshold on the basis of a magnet temperature estimated value of the permanent magnet and any one of a control computation period of the control unit, an output voltage frequency of the inverter unit, and a carrier frequency based on the output voltage frequency of the inverter unit.

    Abstract: A controller for a rotary electric machine may include: at least one memory that stores a temperature prediction data in which a relationship among a rotational speed of a rotary electric machine, a torque information of the rotary electric machine, a temperature of the rotary electric machine at a reference time point, and a temperature of the rotary electric machine after an estimation calculation period elapses from the reference time point, and at least one processor that, at every estimation calculation period, sets the last calculation time before the estimation calculation period as the reference time point, and, by referring to the temperature prediction data, calculates an estimation value of temperature of the rotary electric machine after the estimation calculation period elapses from the last calculation time.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a traction battery self-heating control method and a device. Acquiring a second temperature of a rotor at a current sampling time according to system parameters and a first temperature of the rotor at a previous sampling time, and estimating a third temperature of the rotor at a next sampling time according to the first temperature and the second temperature, and stopping the self-heating of the traction battery when the third temperature reaches a demagnetization temperature of the rotor. Whether to stop the self-heating of the traction battery is determined by estimating a rotor temperature under the self-heating condition, and comparing the rotor temperature with the demagnetization temperature of the rotor, and thus the self-heating control of the traction battery is realized.

    Abstract: Motor overload protection device is equipped with a thermal monitor that can determine expected rotor temperature rise from rotor resistance estimates. The thermal monitor determines expected rotor temperature rise by using a correlation between rotor temperature rise computed from rotor resistance estimates, and motor thermal state estimates. The correlation can be derived by fitting a line to a plurality of points, with each point defined by an ordered pair composed of a rotor temperature rise estimate and a corresponding motor thermal state estimate, and determining a slope of the line. This rotor temperature slope can then be used by the thermal monitor to determine a rotor temperature rise given a rotor resistance estimate and a corresponding motor thermal state estimate. If the rotor temperature rise exceeds an expected rotor temperature rise by more than a predefined threshold, the thermal monitor issues an alarm and/or takes corrective actions in some embodiments.
