摘要: Disclosed herein are signal amplifiers having a plurality of amplifier cores. Individual amplifier cores can be designed to enhance particular advantages while reducing other disadvantages. The signal amplifier can then switch between amplifier cores in a particular gain mode to achieve desired performance characteristics (e.g., improving noise figure or linearity). Examples of signal amplifiers disclosed herein include amplifier architectures with a low noise figure amplifier core that reduces the noise figure and a linearity boost amplifier core that increases linearity. The disclosed signal amplifiers can switch between a first active core and a second active core for a single or particular gain mode to achieve desired signal characteristics during different time periods.

摘要: A lookup table calibration apparatus and method are disclosed. The lookup table calibration apparatus includes a power amplifier circuit configured to amplify a radio frequency (RF) signal having time-variant power levels based on a modulated voltage. To ensure proper alignment between the modulated voltage and the time-variant power levels, the power amplifier circuit is further configured to phase-shift the RF signal based on a modulated phase correction voltage. Specifically, the modulated voltage is generated based on a modulated voltage lookup table and the modulated phase correction voltage is generated based on a phase correction voltage lookup table. Herein, the lookup table calibration apparatus can be configured to concurrently populate and/or calibrate the modulated voltage lookup table and the phase correction voltage lookup table based on a measured gain and a measured phase of the RF signal, respectively.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for independent audio volume control. User input may be received in an audio setup configured for combined-audio, with the user input including one or both of a selection of a desired volume of a first type audio component of the combined-audio signal, and a selection of a desired volume of a second type audio component of the combined-audio signal. Based on the user input, a corresponding mix setting may be determined, with the mix setting including one or more control parameters for adaptively controlling mixing of the first type audio component and the second type audio component to generate the combined-audio signal. The mix setting may be determined based on a data set characterizing an audio device where at least portion of the mixing is performed. The data set may be pre-programmed and/or determined based on testing of the audio device.

摘要: A gain adjustment circuit is coupled with a transmitting device and a receiving device that are in proximity to each other. The gain adjustment circuit receives a baseband signal that is generated based on gain signals and a power associated with a reception of a data packet by the receiving device. The gain adjustment circuit further receives previous transmission information of the transmitting device. The gain adjustment circuit predicts a time of transmission of a control packet from the transmitting device and determines whether the time of transmission overlaps with a time period of reception of the data packet by the receiving device. The gain adjustment circuit further generates and provides gain signals to the receiving device such that a signal interference during the transmission of the control packet and the reception of the data packet is mitigated.

摘要: A power amplifier module includes a first amplifier circuit that amplifies a radio frequency signal with a first gain corresponding to a first control signal to generate a first amplified signal; a second amplifier circuit that amplifies the first amplified signal with a second gain corresponding to a second control signal to generate a second amplified signal; and a control unit that generates the first control signal and the second control signal. The second control signal is a control signal for increasing a power-supply voltage for the second amplifier circuit as a peak-to-average power ratio of the radio frequency signal increases. The first control signal is a control signal for controlling the first gain of the first amplifier circuit so that a variation in the second gain involved in a variation in the power-supply voltage for the second amplifier circuit is compensated for.

摘要: An asymmetric signal path approach is used to extract differential signals out of the photodetector (e.g., a photodiode) for amplification by a differential transimpedance amplifier (TIA). This asymmetric-path differential TIA configuration has less low-frequency Inter Symbol Interference (ISI) (also known as Baseline Wander), less high-frequency noise amplification, and higher bandwidth capabilities. There is no power penalty with this design in comparison to a single-ended TIA, can extend the range of the link for a given system power consumption, and can decrease transmitter power for a given range.

摘要: A method, an apparatus, and logic to post-process raw gains determined by input processing to generate post-processed gains, comprising using one or both of delta gain smoothing and decision-directed gain smoothing. The delta gain smoothing comprises applying a smoothing filter to the raw gain with a smoothing factor that depends on the gain delta: the absolute value of the difference between the raw gain for the current frame and the post-processed gain for a previous frame. The decision-directed gain smoothing comprises converting the raw gain to a signal-to-noise ratio, applying a smoothing filter with a smoothing factor to the signal-to-noise ratio to calculate a smoothed signal-to-noise ratio, and converting the smoothed signal-to-noise ratio to determine the second smoothed gain, with smoothing factor possibly dependent on the gain delta.

The first NMOS transistor matches a transistor of a differential pair of an integrated circuit device.
