Abstract: A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a mirror head that is movable relative to a mounting base and a powerfold actuator that is operable to move the mirror head relative to the mounting base between a folded position and an extended position. The powerfold actuator includes a base portion attached at the mounting base and a pivot tube that extends from the base portion through an output gear and a housing. The output gear includes a plurality of detents that engage a corresponding plurality of detents of the housing. With the detents engaged, a biasing element biases through the housing and the output gear to the base portion to releasably retain the powerfold actuator in the at least one detent state of the powerfold actuator. With the detents disengaged, the biasing element does not bias through the housing and the output gear.

Abstract: A vehicular rearview mirror control system includes an interior rearview mirror assembly, a driver-side exterior rearview mirror assembly, and a rearward-viewing camera. The system, via processing of a first subset of captured image data, is operable to determine ambient light rearward of the vehicle, and via processing of a second subset of the captured image data, is operable to determine light emanating from a headlight of a following vehicle. Responsive to determining that the light emanating from the following vehicle's headlight is at a driver-side region and glares a driver of the vehicle, the system dims the driver-side exterior rearview mirror assembly to reduce glare to the driver. Responsive to determining that the determined light emanating from the following vehicle's headlight is at a central region and glares the driver of the vehicle, the system dims the interior rearview mirror assembly to reduce glare to the driver.

Abstract: A vehicular driver monitoring system includes a vehicular interior rearview mirror assembly having a mirror head that accommodates a variable reflectance mirror reflective element. A camera is accommodated by the mirror head and views through the variable reflectance mirror reflective element. A light emitter is accommodated by the mirror head and is electrically operable to emit near infrared (NIR) light that passes through the mirror reflective element. Responsive to detection of glare light at the variable reflectance mirror reflective element, the vehicular driver monitoring system electrically reduces the reflectance of the variable reflectance mirror reflective element. Responsive to determining presence of a passenger, the vehicular driver monitoring system limits electrical reduction of the reflectance of the variable reflectance mirror reflective element so that the variable reflectance mirror reflective element provides at least a first minimum threshold transmission level of NIR light passing through the variable reflectance mirror reflective element.

Abstract: A vehicular driver monitoring system includes a camera disposed at an interior rearview mirror assembly within a cabin of a vehicle and viewing a driver operating of the vehicle. Image data captured by the camera is transferred to and is processed at an electronic control unit (ECU). The vehicular driver monitoring system, via processing at the ECU of image data captured by the camera, determines posture of the driver operating the vehicle. The vehicular driver monitoring system, based at least in part on a comparison between the determined posture of the driver and a proper posture stored in memory, determines improper posture of the driver. The proper posture stored in memory is determined based at least in part on a determined head position of the driver relative to the interior rearview mirror assembly of the vehicle.
