The present system relates to radiation pattern control. More particularly, the present system is adapted for controlling a radiation pattern of a directional antenna. The system comprises a sample collection unit, a power angular spectrum estimation unit and a control unit. The sample collection unit is adapted for collecting a plurality of samples of a signal with a current radiation pattern and a plurality of samples of the signal with different radiation patterns. The power angular spectrum estimation unit is adapted for estimating a preliminary spectrum of the signal based on the collected plurality of samples with the current radiation pattern and for estimating an optimized spectrum of the signal based on the collected plurality of samples with different radiation patterns. Then, the control unit sets the radiation pattern of the directional antenna to the estimated optimized spectrum.

A system and method for optical data acquisition of an illuminated turbid medium object, the system comprises a variable structured light detector and a controller. The light detector is adapted to retrieve light from a plurality of detection points of an output surface of the illuminated turbid medium object with a plurality of detection patterns. The controller is adapted to control the variable structured light detector for the variable structured light detector to use a detection pattern corresponding to an illumination pattern of the illuminated turbid medium object. The light detector is further adapted to optically measure a combination of retrieved light from the plurality of detection points as an optical measurement. The controller is further adapted to store an illumination pattern identifier indicative of the illumination pattern, a detection pattern identifier indicative of the detection pattern and the corresponding optical measurement.

An integrated security structure is provided employing an external source of energy to change the appearance of the structure rendering the structure more challenging to duplicate due to its complexity. The security structure includes a substrate forming part of a bank note, identification document, or other security device; an active device within the substrate changing color between at least two colors wherein a color of the substrate surrounding the active device matches one of the at least two colors to form a metameric device. At least one Interference Security Image Structure (ISIS) is configured to be metameric with a bleached state of the active device and is therefore invisible at normal incidence. Another ISIS is metameric with the colored state of the electrochromic device and consequently becomes invisible during coloration. When the whole device is tilted, both ISIS's change color while the rest of the device essentially remains the same.

In a related aspect, the present invention provides the novel materials issued from the method of making the material. In other aspects, the present invention provides novel finished article compositions in the form of films or molded articles.

The method generally has sequentially illuminating an area of said sample with first and second excitation signals, said first excitation signal being slightly spectrally spaced-apart from said second excitation signal, resulting in said area sequentially emitting first and second emission signals; upon receiving said first emission signal, measuring a first intensity value being indicative of optical intensity of said first emission signal within at least a detection band; upon receiving said second emission signal, measuring a second intensity value being indicative of optical intensity of said second emission signal within said detection band; and performing said Raman spectroscopy measurement by comparing said first intensity value to said second intensity value.

There is provided a method and a system for ultrasound imaging in presence of relative motion between a body and an imaging probe. A plurality of Eulerian-based ultrasound images of the body acquired at successive times T with the imaging probe is obtained. Lagrangian coordinates for the body are computed using data from the Eulerian-based ultra-sound images. Lagrangian-based ultrasound images of the body are formed by providing the data from the Eulerian-based ultrasound images in the Lagrangian coordinate system.
