    Abstract: A telecommunications edge cloud (TEC) element comprising a plurality of TEC hardware components comprising a computing component that includes one or more processors, a storage component that includes a memory, a networking component, with the TEC device being deployed between a client and a packet network, the computing component being configured to manage a computing resource in the computing component, a networking resource in the networking component, and a storage resource in the storage component, allocate the computing resource for a first application of the plurality of different applications, execute the first application using the computing resource, allocate the networking resource for a second application of the plurality of different applications, execute the second application using the networking resource, allocate the storage resource for a third application of the plurality of different applications, execute the third application using the storage resource.

    Abstract: An extended peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe) device includes a host PCIe fabric comprising a host root complex. The host PCIe fabric has a first set of bus numbers and a first memory mapped input/output (MMIO) space on a host CPU. An extended PCIe fabric includes a root complex endpoint (RCEP) as part of an endpoint of the host PCIe fabric. The extended PCIe fabric has a second set of bus numbers and a second MMIO space separate from the first set of bus numbers and the first MMIO space, respectively.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for network function virtualization (NFV) resource management are disclosed that include receiving, by a network functions virtualization orchestrator (NFVO), a reuse requirement for a first network service (NS) and determining, by the NFVO, that at least one constituent virtual network function (VNF) instance in the first NS is retainable for reuse in a second NS according to the reuse requirement when the first NS is to be terminated. In some embodiments, these systems and methods also include retaining, by the NFVO, the at least one constituent VNF instance in the first NS for reuse in the second NS.

    Abstract: Latency Based Forwarding (LBF) techniques are presented for the management of the latencies, or delays, of packets forwarded over nodes, such as routers, of a network. In addition to a network header indicating a destination node for receiving the packet, a packet also includes an LBF header indicating the packets accumulated delay since leaving the sender, a maximum latency for the entire journey from the sender to the receiver and a minimum latency for the entire journey from the sender to the receiver. When a packet is received at a node, based on the accumulated delay, the maximum latency, and the minimum latency, the node places the packet in a forwarding queue to manage the delays between the sender and the receiver. The LBF can also indicate a policy for the forwarding node to used when determining the enqueueing of the packet.

    Abstract: A method and system for including a base station that configures a first user equipment (UE) that is in a radio resource control connected state with the base station. The UE is configured to be a synchronization source and transmit a first device-to-device synchronization signal (D2DSS) by using a synchronization resource that comprises a time resource, a frequency resource or a time and frequency resource. The base station instructs the first UE to transmit the first D2DSS using the synchronization resource. The base station signals the UE to configure the UE separately from the signal to transmit the D2DSS, and both of the signals are performed with radio resource control signaling from the base station to the UE.
