Abstract:
Method and apparatus for making padding web is disclosed, wherein uncut, highly crimped, tensioned tow is passed through a series of rollers. The rollers are arranged in at least two sets of pairs, the rollers of each pair rotating at different peripheral velocities. The ratio of peripheral velocities is higher for the upstream pair of rollers. The upper rollers of the two pairs rotates faster than the lower rollers thereof. The padding web produced is suitable for stuffing articles such as bed covers, sleeping bags, anoraks, and the like.
Abstract:
LAMINATED MATERIALS COMPRISING AT LEAST ONE REINFORCING LAYER PRODUCED FROM A MECHANICALLY-STABLE AND HEAT-RESISTANT YARN, IMPREGNATED WITH A HEAT-STABLE RESIN ARE FLEXIBLE AND HEAT-RESISTANT AND HAVE A HIGH RESISTANCE TO DELAMINATION. THEY ARE MADE BY FORMING AN ASSEMBLY OF ONE OR MORE LAYERS OF REINFORCING YARNS ASSOCIATED WITH A TEXTILE FABRIC CONSTITUTED BY A SOLID HEAT-STABLE POLYMER COMPOSITION, WHICH WHEN HEATED PASSES THROUGH A TRANSIENT LIQUID PHASE, AND HEATING THE ASSEMBLY TO A TEMPERATURE AND FOR A TIME SUFFICIENT TO LIQUEFY THE POLYMER COMPOSITION.
Abstract:
The specification describes a spinneret unit for spinning textile filaments, in which the spinneret is mounted at the downstream end of the housing. Within the housing is mounted a first filter, having filter elements having a check threshold which decreases in the downstream direction. The flow rate is increased in a conduit of decreasing cross-section and the material then passes through a second filter located immediately upstream of the spinneret, the second filter having a check threshold no greater than any of the first filter elements.
Abstract:
A NOVEL SYNTHETIC FILAMENT AND ARTICLES PRODUCED THEREFROM WHEREIN SAID FILAMENT HAS A TETRALOBAL CONFIGURATION, THE FILAMENT AND ARTICLE PRODUCED THEREFROM POSSESSING IMPROVED CHARACTERISTICS OF RIGIDITY AND GOOD COVERING POWER. SUCH FILAMENTS ARE CHARACTERIZED IN THAT THE RATIO OF THE RADIUS OF THE INSCRIBED CIRCLE, I.E., THE CIRCLE WHICH PASSES THROUGH THE CONNECTING POINT OF THE LOBES, TO THE RADIUS OF THE CIRCUMSCRIBED CIRCLE, I.E., THE CIRCLE WHICH PASSES BY THE SPEX OF THE LOBES, IS WITHIN THE RANGE OF 0.25 AND 0.42. THE TETRALOBAL CONFIGURTION IS FURTHER CHARACTERIZED IN THAT TWO ADJACENT ANGLES FORMED BY THE AXES OF THE LOBES ARE BETWEEN GREATER THAN 90* TO 120*. THE TETRALOBAL SYNTHETIC FILAMENTS ARE PREPARED BY EXTRUDING A THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER IN A MOLTEN CONDITION THROUGH A SPINNERET, THE APERTURES OF WHICH ARE COMPOSED OF FOUR SLITS OF SUBSTANTIALLY EQUAL LENGTH FORMING A CROSS OF TWO ADJACENT ANGLES OF BETWEEN GREATER THAN 90* TO 120*, THE FILAMENTS BEING THEREAFTER PASSED THROUGH A GASEOUS ATMOPHERE AND THROUGH A COOLING BATH MAINTAINED AT A TEMPERATURE LOWER THAN 100*C.
Abstract:
The specification describes a thermal treatment roll, e.g. for heating or cooling a textile yarns etc., wherein a rotor is mounted on a stator which is provided with a heating or cooling means. Between the stator and rotor is a connecting element of a solid, heat-conducting lubricating material, e.g. a ring or rings of sintered metal impregnated with a lubricating oil.
Abstract:
Apparatus for cutting the neck portion opening of an article of clothing, e.g. a pullover, of thermoplastic material including a hollow, bust-shaped former having an aperture in the flattened upper portion thereof. A transparent reference plate is used to locate the pullover on the former, and a heated cutter within the former is raised to cut out the neck portion. The waste material is removed downwardly through a suction tube.
Abstract:
A process of and a device for the automatic continuous injection of an adjuvant into a fluid in which the adjuvant is injected into the fluid by means of a plurality of syringes of which at any one time at least one is feeding adjuvant to the fluid, the individual syringes being operated in alternating filling and discharge phases, and the pressure in each syringe at the end of the filling phase and before the discharge phase begins being equal to or greater than the pressure existing in the zone occupied by the said fluid. In the device a motor is provided for reciprocating the syringe pistons and a commutation device is provided for communicating each syringe orifice in turn and alternately to the fluid and to a source of adjuvant.
Abstract:
CONTINUOUS ARTIFICIAL FIBER STRANDS ARE WIDENED AND LOOSENED BY MEANS OF A SINGLE OR MULTIPLE PASSES THROUGH AN APPARATUS HAVING A PLURALITY OF ROWS OF NOZZLES. GAS IS BLOWN THROUGH ONE ROW OF NOZZLES AWAY FROM THE CENTER. AND IS BLOWN THROUGH THE ADJACENT ROW OF NOZZLES TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE APLPARATUS.
Abstract:
A YARN RUPTURE DETECTOR FOR USE IN A TEXTILE MACHINE IN WHICH A LEVER CARRIES A SENSING ARM WHICH BEARS ON THE RUNNING YARN. THE LEVER IS URGED FROM THE DETECTING POSITION TOWARDS AN ALARM POSITION BY A FIRST FORCE WHICH DESCREASES AS THE LEVER MOVES TOWARDS THE ALARM POSITION. IF THE YARN RUPTURES, THE LEVER MOVES BEYOND AN EQUILIB-
RIUM POSITION AND A MAGNETIC FORCE TAKES OVER TO MOVE THE LEVER FIRMLY TO THE ALARM POSITION.
