Abstract: A computer implemented method predicts by a neural network a radio spectrum usage in an environment comprising interferers and a plurality of wireless nodes. The nodes operate via a slotted medium access control, MAC, protocol within a radio spectrum. The method includes the following steps: obtaining per slot the radio spectrum usage by sensing the radio spectrum, labelling the slots as usable when a respective radio spectrum usage is lower than a predefined noise threshold or when a node successfully transmitted a packet through it, unusable when it is not usable and suitable to receive a packet, and calculating a loss function as a cross entropy loss with the usable and unusable slots over a total number of usable and unusable slots, and training the neural network by minimizing the loss function.

Abstract: A method for estimating movements of a crowd between a first and second subregion in an area are monitored by a wireless sensor network. The wireless sensor network includes nodes configured to exchange a radio frequency signal through a first respective second link. The first respective second link crosses the first respective second subregion. The method includes the steps of exchanging radio frequency signals over the first and second link; and measuring respective first and second attenuations of the exchanged radio frequency signals over the first respective second link; and estimating based on a change in the attenuations a flow of the crowd between the first and second subregion. The estimating further includes estimating based on the first and second attenuations a density of the crowd in the first respective second subregion; and estimating based thereon a flux of the crowd between the first and second subregion.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a vortex chamber comprising a cavity elongating along a central axis and a swirl generator. The swirl generator comprises a plurality of swirl channels configured for introducing a gas flow into the cavity as a vortex flow about the central axis, each swirl channel comprising a channel entrance and a channel exit. The swirl generator further comprises a gas redistribution chamber comprising one or more main gas supply inlets for receiving a gas, a distribution channel configured for distributing the gas received from the one or more main gas supply inlets to the channel entrances of the swirl channels, and one or more blocking walls configured for blocking and unblocking one or more entrances of the plurality of swirl channels. The vortex chamber is further configured for relatively rotating the channel entrances of the swirl channels with respect to the one or more blocking walls from a first angular position to at least a second angular position and vice versa, and wherein when in the second angular position the one or more blocking walls block a larger number of channel entrances than when in the first angular position.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a novel isolated bacterial strain of the Lactobacillus casei (L. casei) species. More in particular, the strain of the Lactobacillus casei species deposited under accession number LMG P-30039. The present invention further relates to the novel L. casei strain for use in the treatment and/or prevention of infections and/or immune-related diseases. Also the use of the isolated novel L. casei strain or a composition comprising said strain as an adjuvant to promote an immune response during vaccination is disclosed. Further, the use of said novel L. casei strain or a composition comprising said strain in personal hygiene industry, cleaning industry, biomass production, air purification and food industry is disclosed. In another aspect of the present invention, the use of a L. casei species that has a whole genome G/C content of at least 47.5% and expresses one or more catalase genes or a composition comprising one or more of said L. casei species in personal hygiene industry, cleaning industry, biomass production, air purification and food industry is disclosed.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for interpreting an electrochemical response, comprises the steps of: (a) providing an electrochemical response that is baseline-corrected; (b) identifying in the electrochemical response one or more peaks that exceed a predetermined height threshold and a predetermined prominence threshold, each identified peak having a peak position; (c) providing a predetermined peak position range for each of a plurality of analytes; and (d) attributing one or more of the analytes to the peaks identified in step b, by, for each peak, associating the peak with an analyte when the peak position falls within the predetermined peak position range for the analyte.
