摘要: Methods for regioselective ring-opening polymerization of unsymmetrical cyclic diester monomers, polymers, which may be made by the methods, and uses of same. Monomers may include cyclic hydroxy-acid dimers, such as, for example, 3-methyl glycolide and the like. Polymerization initiators may include chiral metal alkoxide initiators, such as, for example, (SalBinam)Al-01Pr initiators and the like. Polymers may include polyesters, such as, for example, poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) and the like, with 90% or greater regioselectivity for alternating ester units (e.g., glycolic unit-lactic unit (G—L) linkages). Polymers may be utilized for substained or targeted drug delivery vehicles, scaffolding for tissue engineering, bioabsorbable sutures, or the like.

摘要: Methods are disclosed which combine electrospinning and a sacrificial template, such as with additive manufacturing (AM), to produce fibrous microvascular scaffolds which are biodegradable, porous, and easily handled. In one example, a process for fabricating a fibrous network construct is disclosed. The method includes electrospinning a first layer of fibrous material; printing a micropatterned sacrificial template; transferring the micropatterned sacrificial template onto the electrospun fibers; electrospinning a second layer of fibrous biomaterial onto the micropatterned sacrificial template thereby encapsulating the template and generating a construct with two layers; and removing the sacrificial template, producing a fibrous construct with channels or microstructures formed therein. Also disclosed are fibrous constructs and scaffolds produced by the provided methods.

摘要: The invention relates to polyelectrolyte multilayer coatings and, methods for their preparation and application to substrates to enhance the bioactivity and corrosion protection of the substrates' surface. The invention is particularly suitable for coating substrates employed for medical applications, such as but not limited to medical implant devices for drug and/or biologics delivery in a patient. The substrate has a positive or negative charge. The polyelectrolyte multilayer coatings include at least a first polymer layer and a second polymer layer. The first polymer and second polymer have opposite charges. Each of the polymer layers is individually applied using a layer-by-layer such that an alternating charge multilayer coating is formed.

摘要: Disclosed herein are methods, systems, and devices for identifying increased likelihood of non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) in a patient based on ECG data. The methods can include determining based on the ECG data that the patient lacks ST elevation (STE) and that the patient exhibits a ventricular repolarization dispersion (VRD) score that exceeds a predetermined threshold value. The VRD score can be based in part on a T wave complexity ratio that serves as a temporal marker of VRD for the patient. Other markers of spatial and time qualities of repolarization can also be included in the VRD score. An elevated VRD score in the absence of STE can indicate a likelihood of NSTEMI in the patient and a potential major adverse cardiac event.
