Abstract: An inkjet printer and method of operating the inkjet printer ejects ink drops onto coated areas of a media transport exposed in the inter-document zones between successive media sheets passing through a print zone of the printer to maintain the operational status of the inkjets ejecting the ink drops. Absorbent material is positioned outside of the print zone to contact the media transport and remove the ejected ink drops from the coated areas. The absorbent material can be configured about two rollers so operating an actuator to rotate one of the rollers pulls absorbent material from a supply roll to a take-up roll to provide clean absorbent material for removal of the ejected ink drops from time to time.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for monitoring object placement on a surface. The system includes a pressure-sensitive conductive sheet. The pressure-sensitive conductive sheet includes a stretchable fabric, having a plurality of fibers, and a conductive material positioned on a plurality of adjoining fibers of the stretchable fabric. The system further includes a 3-dimensional structure positioned under the pressure-sensitive conductive sheet. The 3-dimensional structure includes one or more depressions onto which the stretchable fabric can be stretched and the conductive material is positioned over the one or more depressions.

Abstract: A method of operating a printer identifies image areas in ink image content data that are likely to affected by airflow disturbances to produce ink blur within an ink image. Inkjets farthest from these areas are selected to eject ink drops into these areas to form portions of an ink image. The image areas identified as being likely to produce ink blur are the leading edge, trailing edge, and side edge of the ink image content data. The ink drops ejected by these selected inkjets and their satellites are less likely to be affected adversely by the airflow disturbances.

Abstract: An automated packaging system for automated collating, stacking and transferring long cut retail edge marker strips exiting a roll fed high speed slitter/perforator/cutter apparatus includes a series of angled and stepped baffles configured to receive the cut retail edge marking strips and allow them to fall into and accumulate in bins formed by each angled baffle and then be removed from each bin consecutively by an automated pusher acting orthogonally to the bins to move and collate the retail edge markers into a final stack collated to meet a specific store planogram requirement. An automated transfer unit moves the final stack downstream for further packaging, which may include automated banding and loading of the final stack into an empty container for shipment to the store having the specific planogram requirement.

Abstract: An inkjet printer and method of operating the inkjet printer modifies the image content data for an ink image to be printed on a media sheet to maintain the operational status of each inkjet in the inkjet printer. For each inkjet that is operated less than an operational threshold, image data is added to the image content data to operate each inkjet at the operational threshold.

Abstract: The present teachings include a flow coating solution, a fuser member and an image forming apparatus. The fuser member includes a substrate and flow coating solution applied onto the substrate. The outer layer includes a flow coating solution including a fluoroelastomer, a nucleophilic crosslinking agent and a non-functional polydimethylsiloxane having the formula:
wherein n is from 100 to 20,000. The flow coating solution includes an effective solvent selected from the group consisting of N-methyl 2-pyrrolidone, dimethyl formamide, and dimethyl sulfoxide.-

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a three-dimensional object operates components in an additive manufacturing system with reference to a difference between quantifications identified for different properties of at least two materials in a same layer. The method enables the layer to be formed with compensation for the differences in the quantifications of the properties of the two materials.

Abstract: Systems and methods for encoding data in a machine-readable image (e.g., an artificial fingerprint) are disclosed. The methods include segmenting a plurality of bits included in a bit stream to be encoded into a plurality of blocks such that each block includes two or more of the plurality of bits. The plurality of blocks are used to generate a minutiae template comprising a plurality of minutiae points each of which is representative of a local ridge discontinuity in a fingerprint, and is associated with a location and an orientation. An artificial fingerprint is generated from the minutiae template, and stored in association with the bit stream. The artificial fingerprint encodes the bit stream and comprises a plurality of ridges and a plurality of valleys.

Abstract: An additive manufacturing system has a controller configured to operate a spool valve to open and close nozzles in a multi-nozzle extruder while the extruder moves in an X-Y plane and rotates about an axis perpendicular to the XY plane to form swaths in the X-Y plane. The controller operates one actuator to rotate the multi-nozzle extruder so a longitudinal axis of a nozzle array in the extruder remains perpendicular to a movement path for the extruder and to operate another actuator to move a cylindrical member of the spool valve.

Abstract: A security apparatus and a method for rendering a security mark can involve creating a security mark that includes a correlation mark having a correlation effect and comprising black pixels and white pixels, and subjecting the security mark to a filter that can removes at least some of the black pixels or the white pixels so that the correlation effect no longer functions and the security mark is not visible when rendered on a recording medium.
