    摘要: A miniaturized obstruction treatment device, e.g., a brush, particularly adapted for medical use formed at the distal end of an elongated brush drive shaft having a hollow lumen formed therein for introduction over a guidewire. The brush drive shaft is enclosed in the lumen of an brush delivery catheter, and the brush bristles of the distal brush are adapted to be garaged in a distal end section of the brush delivery catheter lumen. A Y-connector and an brush sub-assembly connector are attached to the proximal end of the brush delivery catheter and form an brush sub-assembly with the brush drive shaft and brush. The Y-connector allows infusion of thrombolytic agents into the brush delivery catheter lumen for emission at the distal end opening thereof adjacent the brush. In use, the brush sub-assembly connector connects the brush sub-assembly with a drive motor unit connector of a drive motor unit. The drive motor unit receives the proximal end of the drive shaft and rotates it to rotate the brush bristles. The brush and brush drive shaft distal section are automatically extended out of the catheter lumen distal end opening when the sub-assembly connector and the drive motor unit connector positively lock together. Simultaneously, a drive hub of the brush drive shaft locks into a drive chuck of a drive motor unit to enable rotation of the drive shaft, and the proximal drive shaft end is seated in a dynamic seal that inhibits infiltration of blood and thrombolytic agent into the drive motor housing.

An exemplary pleated bag of the present invention may be an elongate, sterile bag, having a plurality of pleats near the distal end, and including an orifice proximal to the pleats designed to allow passage of a catheter into the bag. The present invention also provides for a system that includes a pullback device, catheter, and pleated bag. The present invention allows for improved imaging catheter procedures at reduced costs.

    摘要: A system for use in delivering a thrombolytic agent to a firm obstruction in a blood vessel by effecting longitudinal extension of the distal infusion segment of an infusion device through the obstruction as the obstruction is dissolved by the delivery of the thrombolytic agent. The infusion device is inserted into the lumen of an introducer to straighten the distal infusion segment and the assembly is advanced through a selected path in a patient's vascular system to the obstructed site. The distal infusion segment is advanced from a distal end opening of the introducer sheath lumen and assumes the pre-biased J-shaped bend configuration when positioned that tends to present the infusion port in a side wall toward the obstruction. A spring loaded assembly is coupled between the proximal ends of the infusion device and the introducer catheter that applies a force axially along the body of the infusion device against the resistance of the obstruction in contact with the distal infusion segment. As the dissolving agent is delivered and the obstruction dissolves, the distal infusion segment tunnels through the soft obstruction under the influence of the applied axial force.

    摘要: A heat exchange catheter having an open core includes a catheter body for use in the central vasculature of a patient. The catheter body having a balloon with at least one heat exchange lumen for exchanging heat with flowing blood. The balloon inflates from a collapsed configuration to an inflated configuration. In the inflated configuration the balloon facilitates the flow of heat exchange fluid through the heat exchange lumen, which wraps in a helical pattern to define the open core and to enable blood to flow through the open core during use of the catheter. The open core defines an inside and an outside, the heat exchange lumen has non-contiguous helical winds to allow flowing blood to mix between the inside of the open core and the outside of the open core.

    摘要: A intravascular heat exchange catheter includes a catheter body having a proximal end connectable with a heat exchange fluid source and a distal end insertable into the vasculature of a patient to facilitate heat transfer with flowing blood. The core has at least one heat exchange fluid lumen for circulating heat exchange fluid within the catheter body. A heat exchanger, e.g. a balloon surrounds a portion of the proximal end of the catheter. The heat exchanger is in fluid communication with the heat exchange fluid lumen for enabling heat exchange fluid from the heat exchange fluid source to circulate through the core and the balloon. A wire, or similar retainer, wraps around the balloon to seal the balloon against the core, forming at least two heat exchange lumens between the balloon and the core.

    摘要: A fully exchangeable integrated-wire dilation catheter for performing angioplasty is disclosed having a flexible small diameter guide wire provided with an enlarged diameter distal end portion and a flexible elongated tubular shaft with at least one dual function fluid conducting lumen adapted to receive the guide wire extending therethrough. The distal end of the tubular shaft is connected to the proximal end of an expandable balloon provided with a coaxially aligned distal orifice having means for releasably engaging the enlarged distal end portion of the guide wire in sealing relationship. In a preferred embodiment the sealing means is a flexible sleeve extending from the distal orifice of the expandable balloon and dimensioned to slidingly engage the correspondingly sized enlarged distal end portion of the guide wire. Associated procedures for utilizing the dilation catheter are also disclosed.
