摘要: A polymer comprises a repeating unit of ethylene and vinyl alcohol, characterized by a linear backbone with substantial absence of branching on the backbone. The polymer has a steady state oxygen permeability coefficient substantially independent of the humidity. In addition, a polymer comprises a repeating unit of ethylene and vinyl acetate, characterized by a linear backbone with substantial absence of branching on the backbone and a plurality of acetate groups bonded to the backbone. Some polymers comprise vinyl alcohol or acetate groups that arm separated by x-2, x-1 or x carbon atoms, and such groups are present in a ratio of 1:2:1, wherein x ranges integrally from 3 to 12.

摘要: The bowl is divided into lower and upper compartments. The side of the lower compartment is formed in part, by a lower portion of the side wall of the bowl and, in part, by a upwardly extending wall which extends upward from the bottom of the bowl and terminates at a platform of the upper compartment. Alternatively, the side of the lower compartment is formed entirely by an upwardly extending wall which extends upwardly from the bottom of the bowl and which is spaced apart from the side wall of the bowl. The upper portion of the side wall of the bowl forms the side of the upper compartment.

摘要: A decoy system (1) having a net (2) with a predetermined perimeter (3), at least one weight (7) secured to the net (2), at least one decoy (8) securable to the net (2) and straps (11) and (12) for securing the decoy(s) (8) to the net (2). The net (2) includes intersecting first strand and second strand netting elements (4 and 5) to form a plurality of intersections (6) within the perimeter (3) wherein the decoy(s) (8) are preferably secured thereto. To use the present invention, a person first secures a decoy (8) to the net (8) via the straps (11 and 12). Then, he or she places the net (2) into a body of water such that the decoy is located above a water surface (16). Because the decoy (8) is constructed so as to float, it remains atop the water surface (16). However, because the net (2) is weighted, the net (2) remains below the water surface (16) so as to not be visible to other people or animals.

摘要: A modified latex drag reducer and methods of making and using the drag reducer in order to reduce friction losses resulting from turbulent fluid flow through a conduit. Particularly, the modified latex drag reducer is formed from an initial latex which is a product of an emulsion polymerization reaction. The initial latex is then modified, preferably by admixing with at least one low HLB surfactant or at least one solvent, or both, to form a modified latex with an enhanced dissolution rate in a hydrocarbon stream over the initial latex.

摘要: A thermoluminescent reader module having a hardened, durable construction has a casing which houses a filter, a ball lens and detection module. After a thermoluminscent material is heated by a laser diode, the ball lens collects the hemispherical photon emissions. The filter is positioned at the front of the casing to ensure the ball lens receives a predetermined transmittance value of the photons emitted from the thermoluminescent material within a predetermined range of wavelength. The ball lens sends the collected photons via a fiber-optic connection to the detection module. The detection module is connected to a CPU for purposes of processing the detected information. The filter, ball lens and detection module are securely attached and mounted within the interior of the casing.
