A zero point adjusting method and apparatus for a pressure detector of an injection molding machine, capable of carrying out a zero point adjustment of the pressure detector when external loads acting on the pressure detector are completely removed without disassembling an injection mechanism. An advance limit position Qf and a retreat limit position Qb of a screw are detected by driving the screw with a low output to determine an intermediate position Pm. By moving the screw to the intermediate position Pm, a resin reaction force acting directly on the screw is removed. Reciprocating motion in which an amplitude decreases gradually is imparted to the screw, thereby causing a backlash, having equal plays in the advance and retreat directions, between a ball nut and a ball screw. Then, the zero point adjustment of the pressure detector is made.

This apparatus, preferably applicable to a molding machine using the core change type dies, is capable of pushing out the inserted core from the mother mold, thereby facilitating the core extracting operation by the robots. A mother mold of a complementary die in the core change type dies is constituted by a main body and an intermediate plate which is disposed behind the main body and to be movable in both the forward and backward directions. A core fixing and releasing mechanism is provided on the intermediate plate. Furthermore, there is provided a push-out device disposed in a clearance formed between the main body and the intermediate plate when the intermediate plate is shifted rearward. The push-out device has its one surface abutting on a front surface of a core and its another surface abutting on a rear surface of the main body. The push-out device is attached to a distal end of an arm of a robot, combined with a molding machine, so that the push-out device is slidable in both the forward and backward directions and is urged rearward, if necessary.

The laser processing apparatus moves one processing head toward a processing position with respect to the frame having a laser beam generator by a processing head driving unit. The apparatus includes a workpiece moving system for moving a workpiece with respect to the processing head positioned in the processing position. Therefore, a compact laser processing apparatus, high in production efficiency, and which is capable of selecting an optimum processing head from processing heads according to the type of the thermal processing to be done, results.

In a horizontal revolute robot, an upper end of a ball screw (21) of a direct-acting actuator (100) is rotatably supported by a top plate of a column (10), and the lower end thereof is coupled to a drive unit (40) disposed on a base plate of the column. A first link (220) is pivotally coupled to a coupling member (210) of a manipulator (200) fixed to a slider (30) of the actuator, and a second link (240) is pivotally coupled to the first link. The ball screw is rotated by the drive unit to move the manipulator along the ball screw in unison with the slider, and servomotors (230, 250) of the manipulator are driven to turn both the links within a horizontal plane, so that a wrist portion of the robot is positioned in a robot installation space for robot operation. Since no base is required to turnably support the actuator, the robot is small-sized, light in weight, and low-priced. Since the lower movement limit position of the manipulator is low, the range of action of the robot is wide.

In attaching the ball screw, upper and lower end portions of the ball screw, diagonally inserted in the inside space of a column (10), are respectively fitted into holes (12a, 33a) of a column top plate (12) and a plate member (33) of a slider (30) through a passage (12b), formed in the top plate and opening in a slider-side end face of the same plate, and a passage (33b), formed in the plate member and opening in the distal end face of the same member. Then, the lower end of the ball screw is coupled to a reduction gear (52), and a bearing unit (22) mounted on the upper end of the ball screw and a ball nut (34) threadedly engaged with the ball screw are respectively fitted into the holes (12a, 32a) so that the bearing unit and the ball nut are fixed to the top plate and the plate member, respectively.

A laser-beam mis-emission preventing method capable of improving safety of a laser robot. Upon supply of power to the laser robot, a processor of a robot control unit (10) compares a predetermined value with an angle (.delta.) formed between a horizontal plane (XY plane) and an axis (8a) of a laser nozzle (8) and computed based on joint angles (W, U, r, .beta.) (S1-S3). When the laser nozzle angle (.delta.) is less than the predetermined value, an interlock signal delivered to the laser oscillator (30) is set to turn off the power of the laser oscillator, thereby bringing the laser oscillator into a condition incapable of laser oscillation (S5). This prevents mis-emission of the laser beam which occurs due to deficiency of a robot operating program, erroneous manual operation, etc., and which can damage the human body or peripheral devices.

The position of the tensioner (36) is adjusted to adjust the tension in the power transmission belt (32), to thereby eliminate backlash between the respective meshing teeth of the two drive pinions (28, 30) and the driven gear (26), by pressing the respective teeth of the drive pinions (28, 30) against the corresponding teeth of the driven gear (26), respectively, in opposite directions.

A general-purpose novel diamond-like carbon film (DLC film) and its manufacture, and the DLC film is characterized by the following items (i) to (iv); (i) the film structure contains mainly diamond crystalline phases, and has a hydrogen content of 20 atomic %, the presence of diamond crystalline phases is confirmed by analysis by the electron diffraction method, and the diffraction peak appears at 2.theta.=43.9 by analysis by the X-ray diffraction method; (ii) the density is 1.8 g/cm.sup.3 or over; (iii) the film surface is smooth and excellent in etching resistance; and (iv) the film is chemically stable and structurally stable, and these stabilities are not deteriorated under high temperature conditions.
