摘要： A system for guiding an implant to an optimal placement within a patient includes a trajectory guide for guiding instruments along a selected trajectory and a trajectory fixation device for fixing the trajectory guide in a selected position. The trajectory guide defines a path configured to align with the selected trajectory. A movable support mounts the trajectory guide and selectively moves the trajectory guide to align the trajectory guide with the selected trajectory prior to fixing the trajectory guide in the selected position. The trajectory is aligned coarsely by hand, then the trajectory is aligned using a fine adjustment system. After fixing the trajectory guide, instruments can be inserted along the trajectory through the path defined by the trajectory guide.

An upper rigid plate (20) has opposed first and second surfaces (42, 52). The first surface (42) is affixed to the upper surface (202) of the elastomeric core. The second surface (52) is inclined relative to the first surface (42). A lower rigid plate (120) has opposed third and fourth surfaces (142, 152). The third surface (142) is affixed to the lower surface (212) of the elastomeric core (200) and extends parallel to the first surface (42). The fourth surface (152) is inclined relative to the third surface (142). The second and fourth surfaces (52, 152) are inclined relative to each other.

摘要： A method of correcting spinal deformity, which includes locating pharmaceutical-loaded implants adjacent to targeted spinal growth plates, and then eluting the pharmaceutical onto the growth plates. Preferably, the method involves correcting spinal deformity by simply inserting a pharmaceutical-eluting pedicle screw onto the concave side of a scoliotic curve. The screw has a cannulated internal reservoir that contains a chondrocyte growth-inducing pharmaceutical (such as a growth factor or small molecule) and at least one fenestration that allows the pharmaceutical to elute onto the vertebral body growth plate.
