    摘要: A system and method for detecting a molecular event in a test sample using a resonant test structure is presented. The method includes providing a resonant test structure having a resonant response associated therewith. Next, a first resonant response of the resonant test structure is obtained when the resonant test structure is electromagnetically coupled to a reference sample, the reference sample having a known composition. A second resonant response is also obtained when the resonant test structure is electromagnetically coupled to the test sample, the test sample having an unknown composition. Subsequently, one or more first electrical parameters, such as the q-factor of the resonator, are derived from the first resonant response. One or more second electrical parameters are similarly derived from the second resonant response. The similarity or difference between the first and second electrical parameters are analyzed to determine the presence or absence of the molecular event in the test sample.

A heated bushing supplies streams of molten glass to be drawn into continuous fibers, and a drawing device attenuates the streams into fibers. A sizing applicator has a coating element engaging the drawn fibers, which applies a coating of sizing composition to the fibers. A shoe spaced from the applicator engages the fibers and causes the fibers to sweep back and forth across the element.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for finish processing of knitted fabric. Fabric, supplied in substantially dry condition and in generally flat form, is directed through an open bottom, vertically oriented steam chamber, constantly supplied with fully saturated steam at atmospheric pressure. Upon exiting the steam chamber, the knitted fabric is laterally distended to a predetermined width, and then subjected to finish processing, such as calendering or compacting. A sensing device in the steam chamber maintains a steam-air interface slightly above the open bottom of the chamber. More effective moisturizing of the fabric is accomplished, enabling the steaming operation to be performed prior to the spreading operation, without compromising the finish processing operations. Improved performance is realized, along with extraordinary savings in operating costs.
