    摘要: To provide a torque detecting device having a sufficient mechanical strength, capable of accomplishing an accurate torque measurement, having a processability excellent for mass-production, and effective to eliminate problems associated with damages which would be brought about during a heat treatment. This torque detecting device includes a target area subject to torque detection (3) provided in a surface region of a torque transmitting shaft (2) made of a steel material; a detecting coil (4) provided in a non-contact fashion in face-to-face relation to an outer periphery of the target area subject to torque detection (3); and a detection signal processing circuit (5). The target area subject to torque detection (3) is a layer of magnetostrictive material comprised of an Al diffusion layer. This diffusion layer contains Al diffused in a steel material in a concentration which gradually decreases from the surface in a direction radially inwardly of the torque transmitting shaft (2).

    摘要: To provide a bearing device for a wheel, in which a preload control is easy and a uniform amount of preload can be applied with a bearing seal being mounted, the bearing device for the wheel includes an outer member, an inner member and double rows of rolling elements interposed between the outer member and the inner member. The outer member has a flange on an outer periphery thereof and also has an inner periphery formed with two rolling surfaces. The inner member is formed with rolling surfaces opposed to the rolling surfaces of the outer member. The double rows of the rolling elements are interposed between the rolling surfaces of the outer member and the inner member. A sensor for detecting the amount of preload of the bearing is provided in one of the outer and inner members.

    摘要: A sensor-incorporated wheel support bearing assembly includes a stationary outer member having a plurality of raceway grooves defined in an inner peripheral surface thereof, an inner member made up of a rotatable hub axle and an inner race segment mounted on an inboard end portion of the hub axle with a vehicle wheel being supported by the hub axle. The inner member has a corresponding number of raceway grooves defined in the hub axle and the inner race segment, respectively. Rows of rolling elements are interposed between the outer member 1 and the inner member. A to-be-detected member in the form of a magnetostrictive element is formed in a portion of the outer periphery of the hub axle adjacent an inboard side and remote from the raceway groove. At least one force detecting unit for detecting a change in magnetic strain induced in the to-be-detected member is provided in an outer race, which is a non-rotatable member, for detecting a force acting on a shaft coupled with the inner member.

The magnetic characteristic of the to-be-detected member (7) represents a substantially sinusoidal waveform rising and falling more steeply than a sinusoidal waveform at a zero-crossing point.
