Disclosed is a vinyl chloride polymer composition comprising:(i) 100 parts by weight of a vinyl chloride polymer containing at least 80 wt. % of vinyl chloride units, and(ii) 0.05 to 25 wt. parts of a three-stage polymer (II), which is obtained by polymerizing 10 to 30 wt. parts of at least one monomer (B), which is selected from acrylic acid esters, methacrylic acid esters, aromatic vinyl compounds, cyano-vinyl compounds and vinyl ester compounds so that the glass transition temperature of a polymer obtained by separately polymerizing the monomer (B) is 0.degree. to 60.degree. C., in the presence of 45 to 85 wt. parts of a methyl methacrylate polymer (A) containing at least 80 wt. % of methyl methacrylate units; and then polymerizing 5 to 25 wt. parts of a methyl methacrylate monomer or monomer mixture (C) containing at least 80 wt. % of methyl methacrylate in the presence of the obtained copolymer comprising the components (A) and (B) so that the total amount of the components (A), (B), and (C) is 100 wt. parts. The vinyl chloride polymer composition is advantageous in that the gelation speed is high, the parting property at the calendering step is good, adhesion to the vessel wall is not caused at the blending step before the processing, the processability is excellent, and the composition gives a molded articles having a good transparency and a good surface condition.

A coating composition for the preparation of synthetic resin shaped articles excellent in abrasion resistance and weatherability is described. This composition comprises (a) a polyfunctional monomer composition comprising (i) 40-100 wt. % of a polyfunctional monomer containing at least three methacryloyloxy or acryloyloxy groups in the molecule and having a MW of not higher than about 900 and (ii) 0-60 wt. % of a mono- or bi-functional monomer having one or two methacryloyloxy or acryloyloxy groups in the molecule and having a MW of not higher than about 300 per methacryloyloxy or acryloyloxy group, (b) 5-35 parts by wt., based on 100 wt. parts of the monomer composition, of at least one ultraviolet absorber, (c) 0.5-8 wt. parts, based on 100 parts by wt. of the monomer composition, of at least one polymeric material selected from polymers of alkyl methacrylates and alkyl acrylates, and (d) 0.01-6 parts by wt., based on 100 parts by wt. of the monomer composition, of a photosensitizer. The coating composition is coated on a synthetic resin shaped article and then, irradiated with ultraviolet rays in an inert gas or air to form a crosslinked coating film having a thickness of 1 to 30 microns.

A vinyl chloride resin composition is prepared by (1) preparing an acrylic elastomer (A) by (a) polymerizing 30 to 50% by wt of an aromatic vinyl monomer in the presence of a polyfunctional cross-linking agent having at least one allyl group and a carboxylate anion surfactant as an emulsifier at a pH maintained between 7.0-9.5 and then (b) graft-polymerizing 50 to 70% by wt of an alkyl acrylate of 2 to 10 carbon atoms in the alkyl group onto said polymerized aromatic vinyl polymer in the presence of from 0.1 to 3 parts by wt of a polyfunctional cross-linking agent with at least one allyl group based on the weight of the sum of said aromatic vinyl monomer and said alkyl acrylate; (2) preparing a graft copolymer (B) by graft-polymerizing from 20 to 70 parts by wt of an aromatic vinyl monomer and methyl methacrylate onto 30 to 80 parts by weight of said acrylic elastomer (A) wherein from 70% to 20% by wt of said aromatic vinyl monomer is first graft-polymerized onto said elastomer (A) in the presence of an oil soluble initiator and then graft-polymerizing from 30 to 80% by wt of methyl methacrylate onto said grafted elastomer; and (3) mixing from 60 to 97 parts by wt of a vinyl chloride polymer with 3 to 40 parts by wt of said graft copolymer (B).

An inorganic composition for low temperature firing comprising about 15 to 40 weight % of glass powder and about 60 to 85 weight % of cordierite, is disclosed. The glass powder is composed of about 20 to 60 weight % of SiO2, about 30 to 50 weight % of B2O3, about 5 to 30 weight % of MgO, 0 to about 15 weight % of Al2O3, and about 1 to 5 weight % of R2O (R is alkali metal). The inorganic composition is capable of being fired at a relative low temperature, and has a low thermal expansion coefficient and permittivity, as well as high mechanical strength.

The thermoplastic resin composition has a high heat resistance and impact resistance.

Disclosed is a lubricant for thermoplastic resins, which is prepared by (A) polymerizing 60-100 wt. % of an aromatic vinyl monomer and 0-40 wt. % of other vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith to form a polymer, (B) polymerizing 30-70 wt. parts of a monomer or monomer mixture comprising 50-100 wt. % of an acrylic acid ester and 0-50 wt. % of other vinyl monomer or monomers copolymerizable therewith in the presence of 10-60 wt. parts of said polymer so that when said monomer or monomer mixture is singly polymerized, the reduced viscosity of the resulting polymer is lower than 1.0, to obtain a polymer, and (C) polymerizing 5-30 wt. parts of a methacrylic acid ester in the presence of the two-stage polymer obtained at the steps (A) and (B) so that the total amount of the components (A), (B) and (C) is 100 wt. parts. A thermoplastic resin composition comprising this lubricant has an excellent mold release characteristics and lubricating property at the molding step, and a molded article prepared from the composition has a good gloss.
