    摘要: A casing body of an ink cartridge includes a first chamber allowing atmospheric air to enter therein, and a second chamber that stores ink. A lid within the second chamber moves vertically while partitioning the second chamber into a first space above the lid and a second space below the lid for storing ink. A gap between an outer periphery of the lid and an inner periphery of the second chamber allows a meniscus of ink to form therebetween. A partition is provided at an upper end of the second chamber to partition the first and second chambers. The partition includes a through hole at a portion which is away from the inner periphery of the second chamber, to allow the atmospheric air to enter the second chamber. An elastic member in the second chamber urges the lid upwards to maintain the second space of the second chamber at a negative pressure.

    摘要: A method for recovering platinum group elements comprises charging into a closed electric furnace and melting, together with flux components and a reducing agent, a platinum group element-containing substance to be processed and a copper source material containing copper oxide, sinking molten metal of primarily metallic copper below a molten slag layer of primarily oxides, and enriching the platinum group elements in the molten metal sunk below, and is characterized in that molten slag whose copper content has decreased to 3.0 wt % or less is discharged from the electric furnace and that the copper source material charged into the electric furnace is a granular copper source material of a grain diameter of not less than 0.1 mm and not greater than 10 mm.

    摘要: A printer includes a cutting apparatus with a shield that protects the cutting part of a cutter blade in the apparatus. A fixed blade is supported so that the fixed blade can be moved by pressure by a compression coil spring upon a fixed blade supporting frame attached to a body frame so that the fixed blade supporting frame can be opened or closed. A blade cover for protecting the cutting part of the fixed blade is fixed to the fixed blade supporting frame. When each fitting between fitting parts of the fixed blade and touching parts of a cutter frame is released in a state in which the fixed blade supporting frame is open, a part or the whole of the cutting part of the fixed blade is shielded by the shielding part of the blade cover.

    摘要: A ridge waveguide-type optical semiconductor device and a method of fabricating the same. The method of fabrication includes forming a first clad layer, a core layer, a second clad layer and a contact layer, in the stated order on a semiconductor substrate, forming a strip-shaped etching mask on the contact layer, removing the contact layer and the second clad layer selectively by etching, using the etching mask, until the core layer is exposed, so as to form a ridge including etched second clad layer, and forming a semiconductor layer by crystal growth, so as to form a mode control layer on the exposed surface of the core layer. The semiconductor device includes a semiconductor substrate, a first clad layer formed on the substrate, a core layer serving as a waveguide, on the first clad layer, and a strip-shaped second clad layer on the core layer. A mode control layer is formed on the core layer, and insulating layers are formed on the mode control layer, at opposite sides of the second clad layer. To confine light to waveguide, the mode control layer has a refractive index equal to or less than a refractive index of the core layer, and is larger than refractive indexes of the respective insulating layers.
