摘要: It is possible for an information processing device to read or write a large amount of contents-related information more quickly if the device has a relatively small processing capacity. The file format identifier information and the block identifier information that correspond to contents-related information are identified in Step S11 and it is determined in Step S17 if the file format version information read out from the file identified by the file format identifier information and the predefined file format version information agree with each other or not. If it is determined that the two pieces of file format version information agree with each other, the related information is read out from the block identified by the block identifier information of the identified file according to the block position information of the identified file in Step S22.

摘要: A music apparatus is constructed for generating a music tone at a specified pitch while freely contracting and expanding the music tone along a time axis. In the music apparatus, a waveform memory memorizes a music tone in the form of waveform data composed of a sequence of waveform units arranged in cycles along the time axis. Each waveform unit has a normalized cycle length. A read address generator generates a read address which successively increments at a rate corresponding to the specified pitch, thereby reading out the waveform data from the waveform memory according to the read address. A tone generator processes the read waveform data to generate the music tone at the specified pitch. A virtual address generator generates a virtual address effective to freely contract and expand the time axis of the waveform data. An address controller operates when the read address deviates from the virtual address during the course of generation of the music tone for controlling the read address generator to change the read address by an integer multiple of the normalized cycle length so as to track the virtual address.

摘要: A music apparatus uses a processing unit of a universal type having an extended instruction set used to carry out parallel computation steps in response to a single instruction which is successively issued when executing a program. A software module defines a plurality of channels and is composed of a synthesis program executed by the processing unit using the extended instruction set so as to carry out synthesis of waveforms of musical tones through the plurality of the channels. The plurality of the channels are optimally grouped into parallel sets each containing at least two channels. The synthesis of the waveforms of at least two channels belonging to each parallel set are carried out concurrently by the parallel computation steps. A buffer has a capacity sufficient to store the waveform samples allotted to one frame period. A cache has a capacity sufficient to store a subset of the waveform samples which is an integer division of the set allotted to one frame period. The synthesis program is executed by the processing unit at one frame period so as to carry out synthesis of a set of waveform samples allotted to one frame period while efficiently accessing the cache. Any designated subroutine programs are sequentially called in response to call instructions to process the waveform samples during the synthesis.

摘要: A musical tone generation apparatus creates musical-tone-waveform samples based on waveform samples stored in a waveform memory by each sampling period. Herein, a high-speed bus such as a PCI bus is provided for data transfer with regard to the waveform memory. A waveform buffer is provided to temporarily and selectively store the waveform samples which are read from the waveform memory. A sound source operates in accordance with time-division-channel timings which are provided by dividing a sampling period by a number of channels. The sound source performs interpolation calculations on the waveform samples of the waveform buffer to create a musical-tone-waveform sample in accordance with each time-division-channel timing with respect to each channel. The apparatus generates a read address whose value is changed in response to a pitch of a musical tone. When the waveform buffer does not store the waveform samples which are necessary to create the musical-tone-waveform sample, the apparatus accesses the waveform memory in accordance with the read address to read out the waveform samples, which are then transferred to the waveform buffer via the high-speed bus. Herein, burst reading operations are performed on the waveform memory, regardless of the time-division-channel timing. Thus, it is possible to reduce an occupancy time of the high-speed bus by the sound source as well as a number of times to access the waveform memory.

摘要: A circuit for driving a plasma display panel includes a scan pulse drive integrated circuit having a plurality of output terminals, and a diode array composed of a corresponding number of diodes each having a cathode connected to a corresponding one of the plurality of output terminals. Anodes of all the diodes are connected in common to one end of a first switch having the other end connected to ground. A high voltage side power supply terminal of the scan pulse driving circuit is connected through a second switch to a negative power supply. During a hold period, the first switch is turned on, but the second switch is turned off, so that a discharge current flows through the diode array to display cells of the plasma display panel, without passing through the inside of the scan pulse driving circuit.

摘要: A pitch-asynchronous-type musical tone creating apparatus, provided for an electronic musical instrument, comprises at least a waveform memory, a low-pass filter and an interpolation section. Waveform samples, stored by the waveform memory, are sequentially read out, so that the interpolation section performs interpolation process on the waveform samples to create interpolation samples. Musical-tone parameters, such as a tone-color characteristic and an envelope characteristic, are imparted to the interpolation samples so as to create musical-tone samples. When performing reading operations on the waveform memory at a high speed which causes skipping of the reading operations, certain frequency components, which cause occurrence of folding noises, are incorporated into the interpolation samples. Those frequency components are removed from the waveform samples, read from the waveform memory, by the low-pass filter whose cut-off frequency is determined responsive to a frequency number. The frequency number is set responsive to a pitch designated for a musical tone to be produced. The low-pass filter is activated only when the frequency number is larger than a certain number so that skipping of the reading operations may occur. The musical-tone samples are accumulated with respect to a plurality of channels which operate in a time-division manner, so that musical tone signals, corresponding to musical tones to be produced, are created based on the musical-tone samples accumulated.
