    摘要: Compositions related to the quantitative trait locus 6 (QTL6) in maize and methods for their use are provided. The compositions are novel molecular marker loci genetically linked with QTL6 and which are associated with increased oil content and/or increased oleic acid content and/or an increased oleic acid/linoleic acid ratio of a plant. These novel markers are characterized by the presence of at least one polymorphism relative to the corresponding marker locus from the QTL6 region of non-high-oil, non-high-oleic acid maize plants. In some embodiments, the novel marker loci comprise coding sequence for a maize DGAT1-2 polypeptide or biologically active variant thereof. The marker loci of the invention, and suitable fragments thereof, are useful in methods for manipulating oil and/or oleic acid content and/or oleic acid/linoleic acid ratio of a plant, for marker-assisted selection of a plant, and for marker-assisted breeding of the high oil and/or high oleic acid trait.

The invention further presents sequences that can be used as molecular markers that in turn can be used to identify the region of interest in corn lines resulting from new crosses and to quickly and efficiently select the best lines for breeding strategies by avoiding sensitive lines. Methods of identifying a plant with an Nsf1 locus using molecular markers are described.

    摘要: A roller cone drill bit having a bit body with at least one support arm extending therefrom. Each support arm may have an interior surface and an exterior surface with an associated spindle extending inwardly from the interior surface. A respective cone assembly may be rotatably disposed on each spindle. A gap may be formed between interior portions of each cone assembly and exterior portions of the associated spindle with a fluid seal disposed in the gap to block fluid flow therethrough. Each cone assembly may include a generally circular backface disposed adjacent to the interior surface of the associated support arm. At least one fluid passageway may extend through each support arm to allow communication of fluid from the interior surface to an exterior surface of the support arm. A debris diverter insert having a generally hollow bore may be disposed within each fluid passageway.

    摘要: Disclosed are mammalian nucleic acid sequences encoding α1I subunit isoforms of a voltage-gated calcium channel. Specifically disclosed are novel variants of the α1I subunit designated herein as α1I-1 and α1I-2. In other aspects, the disclosure relates to expression vectors which encode the novel subunits of the invention, as well as cells containing such vectors. Antibodies specific for each of the variant subunits are also provided. The nucleic acid sequences of the invention find application, for example, in screening for compounds which modulate the activity of voltage-gated calcium channels and also in diagnostic methods for diagnosing various T-type channel mediated disorders, e.g., epilepsy, cancer, pain, sleep disorders and the autoimmune disease Lambert-Eaton Syndrome. Diagnosing defects in α1I subunit genes of a patient with a neuronal disease such as epilepsy are also included. An additional application of the nucleic acid sequences of the invention is in therapeutic methods of treatment for α1I subunit mediated disorders.
