Abstract:
A multi-layer structure includes a fluoropolymer bonded to a substrate. The structure is prepared by exposing a bonding composition to actinic radiation, such as ultraviolet radiation, to form the bond. The bonding composition includes a light-absorbing compound and an electron donor. The bonding composition includes non-adhesive materials.
Abstract:
This invention provides a method of bonding substantially non-fluorinated polymeric material to a fluoropolymer utilizing a bonding composition comprising primary or secondary di- or poly-amine and a melt-processable, substantantially non-fluorinated component. Multi-layer articles and composite constructions, including retroreflective sheeting and fuel line hoses, made of a fluoropolymer layer and a substantially non-fluorinated layer are also provided.
Abstract:
This invention provides a method of bonding substantially non-fluorinated polymeric material to dissimilar polymers, particularly fluoropolymer materials, utilizing a bonding composition comprising base-treated amide group-containing substantially non-fluorinated polymer. Multi-layer articles and composite constructions, including retroreflective sheeting, fuel line hoses, and adhesive articles made of a fluoropolymer layer and a substantially non-fluorinated layer are also provided.
Abstract:
This invention provides curable fluoroelastomer compositions comprising: (a) a fluorine-containing polymer or blend of fluorine-containing polymers each comprising interpolymerized units derived from one or more fluorine-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomers; (b) at least one organo-onium compound such as those selected from the group consisting of ammonium, arsonium, phosphonium, stibonium, amino-phosphonium, phosphorane (e.g. triarylphosphorane), iminium, and sulfonium compounds; and (c) one or more aryl, allyl or alkyl carbonate-blocked compound as a crosslinking agents. Methods of curing fluoroelastomer compositions, and articles made therefrom are also described.

Fiber reinforced resin matrix composite laminates are provided comprising: at least one layer of fiber reinforced resin matrix comprising a cured resin matrix; and a surfacing construction bound to the cured resin matrix and forming a surface of the laminate, comprising: at least one barrier layer; and at least one cured adhesive layer derived from high temperature cure adhesive. In some embodiments, barrier layer(s) may be substantially impermeable to organic solvents, water, and/or gasses. In another aspect, fiber reinforced resin matrix composite laminates are provided comprising: a) at least one layer of fiber reinforced resin matrix comprising a cured resin matrix; and b) a surfacing construction bound to the cured resin matrix and forming a surface of the laminate, comprising: at least one barrier layer; and at least one electrically conductive layer. In another aspect, a surfacing construction is provided comprising a barrier layer and a curable adhesive layer.
Abstract:
Articles having a hydrophobic coating are provided. More specifically, the articles include a substrate, a primer layer of acid-sintered silica nanoparticles, and a hydrophobic hydrocarbon layer attached to the primer layer. The hydrophobic hydrocarbon layer is formed by reaction of the primer layer with a silane compound having a reactive silyl group and a hydrophobic hydrocarbon group. Due to the presence of the primer layer, the silane compounds can be attached to variety of substrates. The articles typically have surface that is easy to clean, smudge resistant, and fingerprint resistant.
