Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a user equipment (UE) configured to schedule resource management procedures including measurements and tracking loop procedures. In some examples, the UE includes at least one antenna pair and two or more receivers. The UE may be configured to determine a plurality of combinations of antenna pairs and component carriers, where each component carrier is associated with a particular frequency. The UE may further be configured to schedule measurements/tracking loop procedures to available receivers first and utilize a selection algorithm to select combinations of antenna pairs and component carriers and map the selected combinations to the remaining of the available receivers to perform tracking loop procedures. Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Wireless devices are adapted to facilitate beamforming communications in wireless networks. A wireless device may identify a first beam group with a number of beams equal to a maximum number of allowed beams, and a second beam group with a number of beams less than the maximum number of allowed beams. Channel statistics may be estimated for each of the first beam group and the second beam group, and the second beam group may be selected for communications when the second beam group is determined to have at least substantially equal or greater channel statistics compared to the first beam group. Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide for a thin control channel structure that can be utilized to enable multiplexing of two or more data transmission formats. For example, a thin control channel may carry information that enables ongoing transmissions utilizing a first, relatively long transmission time interval (TTI) to be punctured, and during the punctured portion of the long TTI, a transmission utilizing a second, relatively short TTI may be inserted. This puncturing is enabled by virtue of a thin channel structure wherein a control channel can carry scheduling information, grants, etc., informing receiving devices of the puncturing that is occurring or will occur. Furthermore, the thin control channel can be utilized to carry other control information, not being limited to puncturing information. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

For example, one of the methods described may include identifying, by a user equipment (UE), at least two states in connected mode, determining, by the UE, one or more triggers for transitioning between the at least two states, and transitioning, by the UE, from a first state of the at least two states to a second state of the at least two states in response to a determination of the one or more triggers. In an aspect, the transitioning comprises transitioning between cross-slot scheduling and same-slot scheduling, or between a narrow bandwidth and a wide bandwidth, or between a larger periodicity and a smaller periodicity for monitoring.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide apparatus and techniques that may be applied in systems that may help enable efficient communication between a base station (BS) and certain devices, such as wearable devices and/or machine type communication (MTC) user equipments (UEs), having a single receiver (RX) for long term evolution (LTE). An exemplary method, performed by a BS, generally includes receiving, from a UE, an indication of a category of the UE, wherein the category of the UE indicates at least one of: a maximum throughput supported by the UE or a number of layers supported by the UE; assuming a number of receivers at the UE based on the category of the UE; determining one or more transmit parameters based on the number of receivers of the UE; and communicating with the UE according to the one or more transmit parameters.
