    摘要: An implantable electrical lead of the type having a rigid, insulative electrode head carrying an advanceable helical electrode. The electrode head is mounted to an elongated insulative lead body less rigid than said electrode head and which carries an extensible conductor coupled to the helical electrode and an inextensible conductor mechanically coupled to the proximal end of the lead. A second electrode is mounted to said lead body adjacent the electrode head and is coupled to the inextensible conductor. The inextensible electrical conductor is mechanically coupled to the electrode head such that poximally directed traction forces applied to the proximal end of the lead body are applied to the head by the inextensible conductor and not by the second electrode.

    摘要: A lead and a lead system for dispersion of a cardioversion/defibrillation electrode formed of one or more small diameter defibrillation electrodes in a heart chamber and for attaching a pace/sense electrode in contact with the heart. The small diameter defibrillation electrode or electrodes extend distally from the distal end of the lead body. If multiple electrodes are employed, they are preferably biased to spread apart when unrestrained and have a cross-section size small enough to be inserted into interstices of trabeculae in the ventricular chamber. The distal ends of the defibrillation electrodes may be free of attachment to the lead body or may be attached by a weak bond to the distal portion of the lead.

    摘要: An implantable medical device system including an implantable electronic device having multiple electrical connectors and an associated electrical lead also having a corresponding set of electrical connectors which engage with the connectors on the device. The lead has a connector assembly mounted to its proximal end, including the lead's electrical connectors and a mechanical connector. The device has a connector block with a bore extending therethrough sized to receive the connector assembly of the lead. A pulling tool is provided for pulling the lead connector assembly proximally in the bore of said connector block from a first position in which the lead's connector assembly is not fully inserted in the connector block to a second position in which said connector assembly is fully inserted in the connector block, the pulling tool being provided with a mechanical connector which engages with mechanical connector on the lead's connector assembly.

    摘要: Selective sensing implantable medical leads include pulsing and sensing portions and pulsing and not sensing portion. Leads and electrodes may be used in defibrillation and as integrated bipolar defibrillation electrodes. An entire electrode can pass charge while a valve metal or valve metal oxide portion of the electrode prevents the entire electrode from sensing, effectively rejecting unwanted signals. Differential conduction pathways, due to the valve metal and/or oxides thereof, cause the portions of the electrodes to conduct differently when used anodically and cathodically. Complex intracardiac electrical gradient can be formed along with a number of virtual electrodes within the tissue. Reentrant loops can thereby be pinned following defibrillation shock.

Each disk includes a proximal and distal surface, at least one stent engagement element attached to the distal surface of the disk and at least one aperture. At least one activation member attaches to the proximal surface of a first disk and at least one activation member passes through an aperture of the first disk and attaches to the proximal surface of a second disk. At least one stent engagement element attached to the distal surface of the first disk passes through an aperture of the second disk. Axially movement of the activation members causes sequential release of the stent engagement elements from a stented device.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for accessing the pericardial space which provides for stable short term or long term placement of a delivery catheter or cannula having its distal most end located in the pericardial space. The catheter or cannula may be introduced into the pericardial space either transvenously through the wall of a heart chamber or transthoracically by penetrating the chest wall and the pericardium. Some embodiments are provided with a mechanism for stabilizing the distal end of the catheter or cannula, which mechanism may employ an extensible elastic, generally tubular member located at the distal end of the catheter or cannula. The device may be provided with a mechanism for extending the tubular member longitudinally, causing its diameter to diminish substantially. The tubular member may be passed through the wall of the heart or the pericardium in its extended configuration and thereafter, the distal-most portion of the tubular member may be moved proximally, causing its diameter enlarge, anchoring the distal end of the catheter or cannula to the pericardium or to the wall of a heart chamber. In these embodiments, the device is preferably provided with a shoulder or flange located proximal to the extendible tubular member, for location on the opposite side of the heart wall or pericardium from the distal end of the catheter or cannula.
