Abstract: A wear indication sensor comprising: a resistor strip configured to be operably attached to the surface of an engine component, the resistor strip including a first end and second end; a plurality of lead wires comprising: a first lead wire electrically connected to the first end proximate an aft end of the engine component; a second lead wire electrically connected to the first end proximate a forward end of the engine component; a third lead wire electrically connected to the second end proximate the aft end of the engine component; and a fourth lead wire electrically connected to the second end proximate the forward end of the engine component; and a measurement device electrically connected to each of the plurality of lead wires, wherein the measurement device is configured to measure a resistance of the resistor strip between each of the plurality of lead wires.

Abstract: A disclosed probe assembly includes a sensor member and an outer holder including a main bore for the sensor member, the outer holder including a first coefficient of thermal expansion. The sensor member is held within a sensor bore of an inner holder. The inner holder is held within the main bore of the outer holder by an interference fit. The inner holder includes a second coefficient of thermal expansion greater than the first coefficient of thermal expansion. Expansion of the inner holder is constrained by the outer holder to maintain the sensor member within the probe bore of the inner holder at elevated temperatures.

Abstract: A proximity sensor includes a lead supported on an outer surface of a case structure and a sensor wire that extends from the lead and through an opening in the case structure. The sensor is formed by applying alternating layers of electrically conductive and non-conductive materials in a non-cured state. A base non-conductive layer is applied to an inner surface of the case structure around the sensor wire in a non-cured state. Once cured, a conductive layer is deposited onto the base non-conductive layer and encapsulates the sensor wire. A cover non-conductive layer is then deposited over portions of the conductive layer to insulate the conductive layer. Portions of the non-conductive layer are then removed such that an area of the conductive layer is exposed to define a sensor area.

Abstract: A measurement system for determining an angular position of a component of a gas turbine engine includes one or more proximity sensors positioned at a fixed structure of the gas turbine engine and one or more sensor targets positioned at a rotatable component of the gas turbine engine. Each sensor target of the one or more sensor targets includes a target surface having a variable distance between the target surface and the proximity sensor with rotation of the rotatable component about a component axis of rotation. A measurement of distance between the proximity sensor and the target surface as measured by the proximity sensor is indicative of an angular position of the rotatable component relative to the component axis of rotation.

Abstract: In combination a wear indicator and a component of a gas turbine engine is provided. The wear indicator is secured to a surface of the component of the gas turbine engine. The wear indicator comprising: a first component including: a first plate; a second plate opposite the first plate; a plurality of wires extending from first plate to the second plate, wherein the first plate is electrically connected to the second plate through the plurality of wires; and a potting material configured to partially fill the first component and fill voids between the plurality of wires, such that the plurality of wires are electrically insulated from each other by the potting material.
