摘要: An electronic device includes: a DC power source which supplies a first DC supply voltage; a DC voltage converter which is enabled or disabled in response to a first control signal, and which converts the first DC supply voltage into a second DC supply voltage different from the first DC supply voltage, when the DC voltage converter is enabled; a switch which selects and supplies either the first DC supply voltage or the second DC supply voltage as an output in response to a second control signal; a DC voltage regulator which is enabled or disabled in response to a third control signal, and which converts the DC supply voltage selected by the switch into a third supply voltage lower than the selected DC supply voltage when said DC voltage regulator is enabled; a control unit which provides the second control signal to the switch; and a loading which utilizes the third DC supply voltage. While the loading is operating intermittently, the control unit provides to the DC voltage converter the first control signal for disabling the DC voltage converter, provides to the switch the second control signal for selecting the first DC supply voltage, and provides to the DC voltage regulator the third control signal for enabling the DC voltage regulator.

摘要: A portable information device, a power saving mode switching method, and a recording medium in which a power saving mode switching program is stored, for efficiently suppressing power generation peaks. In an information device having a component (1) such as a processor and a component (2) such as a magnetic disk device, it is detected whether it is the peak power generation condition or the peak power completion condition on the basis of access information to the component (2), and a power mode change request is given to a power mode changing means (4); and the power mode changing means (4) changes over the component (1) such as the processor from a normal power mode to a power saving mode where the operating voltage is reduced, the clock frequency is reduced, or the like when the peak power generation condition is detected, and changes over it from the power saving mode to the normal power mode when the peak power completion condition is detected.

A bottom of the major surface of the display device can be selectively placed in a first position in which the bottom extends substantially along a first side of the major surface of the main unit, and a second position in which the bottom extends substantially along a second side of the major surface of the main unit that is substantially perpendicular to the first side. The information processing apparatus (100) further comprises power supply and information communications connectors in the main unit on a third side of the major surface of the main unit that is opposite and substantially parallel to the second side. The connector is connectable through another connector on a car docking station.

摘要: A continuous vacuum carburizing process carburizes material such as a steel wire 7 with a carbon content equal to or less than a desired carbon content by passing it under reduced pressure continuously through a carburizing atmosphere 5 with constant pressure and constant gas composition. A continuous vacuum carburizing apparatus for carrying out this process has at least one furnace core tube 1, 11, or 12 and a feeding/taking-up mechanism 13, 14 for the steel wire 7 in a vacuum container 1. Carburizing medium gas is supplied to the furnace core tube 1 via pipes 2, 4 to form the carburizing atmosphere 5. A heater 10 heats the furnace core tube 1, thereby activating carbon of the carburizing medium gas. In this way, material having a small thickness of, for example, 0.02 mm to 3 mm is carburized with less variation in the amount of carburization and no surface oxidation or sooting.
