Abstract: An apparatus includes a medicament container assembly, a movable assembly, and a spring. The medicament container assembly includes a first plunger defining a first volume, and a second plunger defining a second volume. The movable assembly includes a first movable member and a second movable member. The second movable member can move the second plunger within the medicament container assembly. The first movable member can move the first plunger in a first direction within the medicament container assembly to expel contents of at least the first volume via a needle. The spring is configured to urge the needle in a second direction. The release portion of the first movable member is configured to contact the second movable member after the first movable member moves the first plunger to enable the spring to move the needle in the second direction.

Abstract: A personal vapor inhaling unit is disclosed. An electronic flameless vapor inhaler unit that may simulate a cigarette has a cavity that receives a cartridge in the distal end of the inhaler unit. The cartridge brings a substance to be vaporized in contact with a wick. When the unit is activated, and the user provides suction, the substance to be vaporized is drawn out of the cartridge, through the wick, and is atomized by the wick into a cavity containing a heating element. The heating element vaporizes the atomized substance. The vapors then continue to be pulled by the user through a mouthpiece and mouthpiece cover where they may be inhaled.

Abstract: Devices and systems with methods for detecting a sealing condition between a patient interface and a patient, and adjusting the patient interface to maintain the patient interface in sealing contact with the patient. The patient interface may include a sealing structure to form a seal on the patient, and a positioning structure to secure the sealing structure to the patient. The patient interface may include a sensor coupled to the sealing structure. A processor determines the sealing condition between the sealing structure and the patient based on a signal from the sensor, and adjusts at least one of the sealing structure and the positioning structure to maintain the sealing structure in sealing contact with the patient. A prediction system predicts a leak between the sealing structure and the patient based on the sensor signal. A learning system learns how to fit the sealing structure to the patient to form a seal.

Abstract: An administration instrument includes an injection button which can be pressed at an angle that is not parallel to a needle with respect to a direction in which the needle is inserted into skin. As a result, it is possible to prevent a force of pressing the injection button from being transmitted in the direction in which the needle is inserted into the skin deeper than initial insertion of the needle, thereby achieving an administration under a stable state.

Abstract: An injection tool and associated methods are shown. Example tools and methods described provide cooling to numb a local area prior to an injection. The local numbing can be used to reduce or eliminate pain associated with the subsequent injection. In selected examples, circuitry and one or more sensors are used to calculate an appropriate contact time of a heat sink with the local region to best provide a desired amount of numbing.

Abstract: A system for improving an artificial respirator is disclosed. In particular, the system may be utilized to improve the quality of life of a user that utilizes an artificial respirator and to improve the quality of life of a caregiver of the user. In order to do so, the system may include an apparatus that suspends or activates one or more functions of the artificial respirator based on various conditions. As an example, if the system detects a threshold change in tension associated with a band supporting a respiration mask positioned on the user, the system may suspend a function of the artificial respirator. Similarly, if the system detects a temperature reading outside a temperature range, detects a unique sequence of inputs, detects a threshold distance between the user and the respiration mask, or detects other conditions, the system may suspend a function of the artificial respirator.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device A for monitoring a vessel opening for an extracorporeal blood treatment device B with an extracorporeal blood circulation (I), which has an arterial blood line (20) with an arterial cannula (19) and a venous blood line (21) with a venous cannula (22). Moreover, the invention relates to an arrangement with a device A for monitoring a vessel opening and an extracorporeal blood treatment device B, and a method for monitoring a vessel opening during an extracorporeal blood treatment. The monitoring device A comprises a sensor (1) for detecting at least one physical variable, which is characteristic for the state of the vessel opening, and an evaluation apparatus (7), connected to the sensor (1) by way of a connection cable (6), for producing signals characteristic for the state of the vessel opening. The evaluation apparatus (7) has a data transmission unit (38) for establishing a wireless connection between the evaluation apparatus (7) and the blood treatment device B. The evaluation apparatus (7) is distinguished by a control unit (39) configured in such a way that an interruption in the wireless connection between the evaluation apparatus (7) and the blood treatment device B is identified, for example if the patient were to lie on the evaluation apparatus (7). Moreover, the monitoring device A has a signal unit (40), which has a vibration transducer (40A) which causes the housing (8) of the evaluation apparatus (7) to vibrate when the wireless connection is interrupted.
