Abstract:
A d-c power pack incorporated within the frame of a bicycle and adapted to supply operating power to a plurality of accessories such as head and tail lamps and a safety helmet worn by the bicyclist and provided with an electronic device. The bicycle frame includes front and rear tubes bridged by upper and lower tubes to define a trapezoidal structure. The power pack is formed by a cartridge received within a section of the lower tube of the frame, the cartridge containing a set of rechargeable battery cells serially connected to an output terminal linked by an internal line to a bank of parallel-connected outlets mounted along the upper tube of the frame. Each accessory is provided with a cable terminating in a plug insertable in a respective outlet whereby the accessory is powered through this outlet. To recharge the power pack, a recharger having a similar cable is plugged into one of the outlets.
Abstract:
An aerodynamic bicycle rim comprising: a circumferential outer portion comprising a circumferential outer surface, the circumferential outer portion adapted to seat a bicycle tire; a nose; and a set of sidewalls, each sidewall extending radially from the nose of the aerodynamic bicycle rim to a corresponding transition to the circumferential outer surface to form a rim body having a maximum rim body width that is greater than a maximum width of the bicycle tire. The aerodynamic bicycle rim is operable to seat the bicycle tire so that the aerodynamic bicycle rim and the bicycle tire form an asymmetrical cross-sectional shape.
Abstract:
An improved wheel rim is provided that has a varying cross-sectional profile in the axial direction, the radial direction, or both that is not limited to any specific cross-section shape, number of repeating patterns, construction material or style, with the cross-sectional profile optionally varying either uniformly or non-uniformly.
Abstract:
A wheel for use with a bicycle includes a hub for mounting the wheel to a bicycle. The wheel includes a rim about which a tire is mountable and a plurality of spokes that extend between the hub and the rim. The rim and/or one or more of the spokes have a leading and/or trailing edge, at least part of which has an undulating configuration.
Abstract:
An attachment for two-wheeled vehicles and a wheel for a two-wheeled vehicle having these attachments are provided. The wheel includes a hub, a rim and separate spokes connecting the hub and the rim. Portions of the spoke nipples protruding radially inwardly from the rim are covered by cover caps. The cover cap is configured small in structure and aerodynamic in shape. To this end, the length in the peripheral direction is larger than the width.
Abstract:
The invention includes a rim for a cycle wheel, having a U-shaped radial cross section, with two lateral flanges and a bridge connecting the flanges and located so as to be opposite an axis rotation of the wheel. The flanges each define a planar braking surface, adapted to cooperate with a brake pad. The height of at least one braking surface, measured radially, is not constant over the circumference of the rim and has at least one variation in height.
Abstract:
The invention includes a rim for a cycle wheel having a U-shaped radial cross section, with two lateral flanges located on opposite sides of a median plane of the rim and each demarcated by an outer surface facing away from the median plane, on the one hand, and a bridge connecting the flanges and comprising an outer surface facing toward the axis of rotation of the wheel, on the other hand. At least one median zone of the outer surface of the bridge, which has a transverse width measured perpendicular to the median plane and greater than 4 mm, is machined over the entire circumference of the rim.
Abstract:
A cycle rim that includes a metallic profile element, a covering made of composite material and including fibers embedded in a first matrix that covers the metallic profile element, at least over a portion thereof, and further including a spacer which is inserted between the profile element and the covering. The metallic profile element includes at least two sidewalls connected by a bridge, the covering including at least two flanks, each of the flanks covering one of the sidewalls, and the spacer is inserted between each of the sidewalls and the flank which covers it.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for producing a rim ring for a wheel rim, in particular for a wired-on wheel rim, with the following steps: providing an outer rim profile made of hardened composite fibrous material, providing a plastic shaping element, providing at least one top layer made of composite fibrous material, inserting the plastic shaping element radially within the outer rim profile, and positioning the top layer relative to the plastic shaping element and to the outer rim profile such that at least part of the top layer extends from the plastic shaping element onto the outside of the outer rim profile. The present invention further relates to a method for fastening spokes made of composite fibrous material to a rim ring. Finally, the present invention also relates to a rim ring, a wired-on wheel rim and a bicycle with wired-on wheel rims.
