There is provided an electrical steel sheet provided with an insulating coating which has high corrosion resistance and high adhesion. The electrical steel sheet provided with an insulating coating includes an electrical steel sheet and an insulating coating disposed on the electrical steel sheet. The insulating coating includes Zr and Fe. The content of Zr in the insulating coating is in the range of 0.05 to 1.50 g/m2 in terms of ZrO2. The compositional ratio between Zr and Fe is such that the molar ratio of Fe to Zr, that is, the ratio of the amount (moles) of Fe included in the insulating coating to the amount (moles) of Zr included in the insulating coating, is in the range of 0.10 to 2.00.

A manufacturing method of a non-oriented electrical steel sheet includes: performing finish annealing of a cold-rolled steel strip; and forming a tension-applying type insulating film of not less than 1 g/m2 and not more than 6 g/m2 on a surface of the cold-rolled steel strip. The performing the finish annealing includes forming an oxide layer containing Al2O3 or (Al, Cr)2O3 and having a thickness of not less than 0.01 μm and not more than 0.5 μm on the surface of the cold-rolled steel strip with setting a temperature of the cold-rolled steel strip to not lower than 800° C. and not higher than 1100° C. in an atmosphere where when the total content of Si and Al of the cold-rolled steel strip is represented as X (mass %), a partial pressure ratio of water vapor to hydrogen is equal to or less than 0.005×X2.

In a method for producing a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet by hot rolling a raw steel material containing C: 0.002˜0.10 mass %, Si: 2.0˜8.0 mass % and Mn: 0.005˜1.0 mass % to obtain a hot rolled sheet, subjecting the hot rolled sheet to a hot band annealing as required and further to one cold rolling or two or more cold rollings including an intermediate annealing therebetween to obtain a cold rolled sheet having a final sheet thickness, subjecting the cold rolled sheet to a primary recrystallization annealing combined with decarburization annealing, applying an annealing separator to the steel sheet surface and then subjecting to a final annealing, when rapid heating is performed at a rate of not less than 50° C./s in a range of 100˜700° C. in the heating process of the primary recrystallization annealing, the steel sheet is subjected to a holding treatment at any temperature of 250˜600° C. for 0.5˜10 seconds 2 to 6 times to thereby obtain a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet being low in the iron loss and small in the deviation of the iron loss value.

The steel sheet temperature is further increased to a predetermined temperature, thereby forming a coating film. When insulating films for electromagnetic steel sheets are formed, the coating liquid preferably further contains a water based inorganic component.

This is a process for the production of specialty electric steel, particularly grain oriented electrical steel, and more particularly, grain oriented silicon electrical steel. The steel can be formed starting from a thin slab. The process can relate to a product formation route which enables efficient production with better yield and wider process control tolerance. The method can be employed for producing specialty electrical steel utilizes cheaper inputs, less energy, combines and overlaps production process steps, improves yields and product uniformity. This can be accomplished by making it more tolerant to a wider range of process parameters.
