Abstract:
A wire rope has an independent wire rope core including lubricated individual core wires that are encapsulated in a tubular sheath of elastomeric or polymeric material surrounding the core wires and retaining the lubricant. A plurality of strands are located radially outwardly from and adjacent to the core. Each of the strands include strand wires that are lubricated. The strand wires are encapsulated in a tubular sheath of elastomeric or polymeric material that retain the lubrication for the strand wires. The core and strand encapsulating materials prevent direct metal-to-metal contact between core wires and strand wires, and between strand wires of adjacent strands. The core and strand encapsulating materials are applied in a manner so as to avoid loss of lubricant. Retaining lubrication and preventing direct metal-to-metal contact significantly improves the useful life of the wire rope.
Abstract:
In a rope of a type of filling a resin constituting other member between strands, there is provided a wire rope for a running wire capable of promoting fatigue life by reducing a wire breakage at a point of being contacted to a core rope by precisely constraining a movement of a wire and reducing an elongation.A rope having a core rope and a plurality of pieces of side strands arranged at an outer periphery thereof and twisted together, and a resinous spacer interposed between the side strands, in which the core rope includes a rope main body and a resin coating layer outwardly surrounding the core rope main body, the core rope main body and the side strand are separated by the resin coating layer, and the resin spacer is provided with a contour in correspondence with an outer layer wire of the side strand and invades between the wires.
Abstract:
A wire rope is provided which has an independent wire rope core (IWRC) covered by a plastic jacket. Outer strands are laid on this plastic jacket and wormings or spacers extend from the plastic jacket in between the outer strands to form gaps between the outer strands. Another jacket is provided over the outer strands which also fills the gaps between the outer strands. Both the IWRC and the outer strands are preferably lubricated. A method is also disclosed for manufacturing such wire rope.
Abstract:
A steel cord according to the invention comprises a metal core strand (11) and adjacent layer of steel elements (13). Between metal core strand (11) and adjacent layer of steel elements (13), a polymer layer (16) with a minimum thickness of more than 0.02 mm is provided. These steel cords are to be used to reinforce off-the-road tires or conveyor belts.
Abstract:
A reinforcement for a building works structure comprising an assembly of solid wires. The wires are mutually parallel to form a bundle and the reinforcement comprises a sheath made of plastic material enclosing the bundle and providing it with cohesion.
Abstract:
In order that spaces, including a space in the central portion, inside a steel cord used as a reinforcement by being embedded in a tire or the like are filled with an uncured rubber, the uncured rubber is coated on plural steel filaments 115 which are then stranded in case of a single layer steel cord, the uncured rubber is coated on all of plural core filaments 329 which are then stranded along with outer layer filaments 330 in the same direction at the same pitch in case of a 2-layer steel cord of 1 stranding process, and the uncured rubber is coated on all or 2 to 4 core filaments 218 or on at least one of 3 or 4 steel filaments 408, 408null to form a core strand and outer layer filaments 410, 410null are stranded therearound in case of 2-layer steel cord of 2 stranding process. Consequently, it is possible to exhibit satisfactory corrosion resistance and satisfactory fatigue resistance as a steel cord, shorten a curing time in tire component assembling or the like to attain energy saving and prolong the life of a steel cord itself and the life of a tire or the like using the same as a reinforcement. Further, production can be performed at low cost.
Abstract:
The wire rope of this invention has at most 18 outer strands and an independent wire rope core, with the strands of the core being laid in the opposite direction to the outer strands of the rope, and a nylon jacket is provided between the core and the outer strands of the wire rope.
Abstract:
A wire rope (10, 20), comprising: a core (12, 22), a plurality of outer strands (18, 28) and a plurality of separator strands (17, 27) laid on said core (12, 22), and a first plastic jacket (19) around said plurality of outer strands (18, 19) and said plurality of separator strands (17, 27), wherein said plurality of separator strands (17, 27) extend from said core (12, 22) and in-between each pair of said plurality of outer strands (18, 28) so as to produce and maintain gaps between said pair of said plurality of outer strands (18, 28). Plastic impregnation of the wire rope (10, 20) can be ensured due to the separator strands/17, 27).
Abstract:
A conveyor belt includes a first outer sheet disposed on a loadbearing side of the conveyor belt, a second outer sheet disposed on a drive side of the conveyor belt, and an embedded tension-member system disposed between the two sides, which is in the form of cords running parallel in the longitudinal direction of the conveyor belt. The tension-member system includes steel and, prior to vulcanization of the conveyor belt, an expandable coating which, after vulcanization of the conveyor belt, has a pore structure provided to at least portions of the tension-member system. The sheets are formed from a polymeric material with resilient properties. In some aspects, the volume of the coating after vulcanization is from 30 to 5000% higher than prior to vulcanization. The coating may contain at least one of a blowing agent and/or microbeads.
