    摘要: A non-contact infrared (IR) thermometer for measuring temperature from the surface of an object includes an IR radiation sensor attached to a heating element and a thermal shield having an interior surface positioned within the sensor's field of view that has a high emissivity. An electronic circuit controlling the heating element maintains the temperatures of the sensor and shield substantially close to an anticipated surface temperature of the object. The IR radiation sensor is further thermally coupled to a reference temperature sensor. An optical system positioned in front of the shield focuses thermal radiation from the object on the surface of the sensor, while the shield prevents stray radiation from reaching the sensor. Signals from the IR and reference sensors are used to calculate the object's surface temperature.

    摘要: Infrared (IR) temperature measurement and stabilization systems, and methods related thereto are provided. The innovation actively stabilizes temperatures of objects in proximity and within the path between an infrared (IR) sensor and target object. A temperature monitor and controller are employed to regulate power to resistive temperature devices (RTDs) thereby regulating current (and power) to the RTDs. As a result, temperatures of IR visible objects can be actively stabilized for changes, for example, changes in ambient temperatures, resulting in efficient and accurate temperature readings.

The struts can be arranged in a nested configuration having first and second sets of struts, where the second set is located within the first set. Each strut in the first set could be substantially parallel to an adjacent strut in the second set.

    摘要: A non-contact system and heating method includes a blackbody core heated according to Molecular Resonant Wavelength-Radio Frequency Heating method. Radio frequency waves of a resonant frequency travel in a hollow channel of a waveguide that contains an object, such as a blackbody core. The core is structurally secured within the waveguide by a spring system that supports the base of the core, yet the core does not touch the waveguide and does not conduct heat to the waveguide. The core absorbs the RF energy and generates heat by molecular friction within the material of the core moving in a resonating pendulumatic fashion. The core converts the RF energy to infrared (IR) energy and emits IR waves through an exit aperture disposed within a hood coupled to the waveguide. A non-contact temperature measurement system measures the temperature of the core, such as using a phosphor decay temperature measurement method.

The auxiliary liquid-phase nitrogen tank complements liquid-phase nitrogen for cooling.

    摘要: The present invention provides thermal detectors having an optical cavity that is optimized to couple light into a sensor. Light that is on resonance is coupled with the sensor with as high as 100% efficiency, while light off resonance is substantially reflected away. Light that strikes the sensor from the sides (i.e. not on the optical cavity axis) only interacts minimally with sensor because of the reduced absorption characteristics of the sensor. Narrowband sensors in accordance with the present invention can gain as much as 100% of the signal from one direction and spectral band, while receiving only a fraction of the normal radiation noise, which originates from all spectral bands and directions.

    摘要: A portable camera system (100) includes a lens (104) for forming a focused image of a survey scene (106) onto a focal plane array (108). The focal plane array (108) comprises a cooled two dimensional array of quantum well infrared photo detectors, (QWIP) having a peak spectral responsivity in the wavelength range of 10.4 to 10.8 μm. The camera includes a cooled band pass optical filter (110) having a peak spectral transmittance approximately centered at a wavelength of 10.57 μm and a full width half maximum spectral transmittance bandwidth of approximately 10.3 to 10.7 μm. The camera system (100) is usable to detect an invisible gas plume in a video image of a survey scene if the gas plume contains sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), ammonia, (NH3), Uranyl Fluoride (U2O2F2), or any other gas having an absorption band that that at least partially falls within the wavelength band 10.3 to 10.8 μm.
