    Abstract: A “Versatile Power Stack Unit” (VPSU) for controlling electrical devices such as motors for electric vehicles is disclosed. The VPSU uses a DC/DC buck-boost converter that generates output voltage. By varying the voltage according to need, the system can maintain a Pulse-Width Modulation duty cycle of 50% without introducing any ripple current or voltage into the batteries or system, while minimizing losses due to internal resistance. Any number of VPSUs can be connected one to the other in order to provide the voltage and current needed to power the electrical device. Not only does the VPSU minimize ripple current and losses due to internal resistance, but it enables recharging at low voltage and according to the needs of small numbers of batteries with minimal temperature rise during the charging, thereby extending battery lifetime and improving battery performance.

    Abstract: An AC-DC converter may include three phase terminals, two DC terminals, a first converter stage to convert between an AC current at the phase terminals and a first DC current at the first and second intermediate nodes, a second converter stage operable to convert between a first DC signal at third and fourth intermediate nodes and a second DC signal at the DC terminals, a first filter stage comprising a capacitor network having a star-point, a DC link connecting the first intermediate node to the third intermediate node and the second intermediate node to the fourth intermediate node. The second converter stage includes a middle voltage node between the DC terminals and a boost circuit having a midpoint node at the same electrical potential as the middle voltage node. The DC link includes a common mode filter having a common mode capacitor connecting the middle voltage node to the star-point.

    Abstract: A DC/DC converter includes N converters connected in parallel and each having an inductor, a switching element, and a reverse-flow preventing element. Each converter is controlled at phases different from each other and such that a sum of switching frequencies F is out of a first non-selected frequency band. The inductor has an inductance that decreases as the switching frequency F increases. The switching element is controlled using the switching frequency F higher than a second non-selected frequency band of which upper and lower limit frequencies are 1/N of upper and lower limit frequencies of the first non-selected frequency band, and has a total gate charge such that a total loss is smaller than that in a case where the switching frequency F is set to be lower than the second non-selected frequency band.
