    Abstract: A helmet for a rider of an on-road or off-road vehicle protects the rider's head. The helmet also may include various features for enhancing the riding experience. For example, the helmet may include electrical connections for power various features of the helmet. The helmet may include a shell defining a front opening, an interior surface, and an exterior surface. An electronics housing may be detachably attached to the exterior surface at a rear portion of the helmet shell opposite the front opening, the electronics housing including electronic components that are configured to power and/or control one or more components of the helmet.

    Abstract: Drivetrains and constant velocity joints for recreational vehicles are disclosed. These joints comprise a housing, an aperture for connecting with an axle, and interior components for rotatably connecting the axle to the housing. Various retention mechanisms improve the retention of constant velocity joints, including hydraulic-based, disc-based, pin-based, spline-based, and spring ring-based mechanisms. Hydraulic-based systems utilize adjustable hydraulic pressure for maintaining engagement. Disc-based mechanisms employ a conical disc that provides additional frictional force to resist pull-out forces. Pin-based retention involves drive pads or pins and corresponding tracks or grooves in the shaft interfacing gear. Spline-based mechanisms include a toolless locking half shaft retention system with rotating, interrupted splines. Spring ring-based retention features multiple flexible retaining rings placed axially along the spline, providing improved shaft retention. These retention mechanisms enhance the performance and reliability of recreational vehicle drivetrains by securing the constant velocity joint connections.

    Abstract: The enclosed disclosure relates to a configuration of an electric vehicle. The embodiments described within provide improvements in the way of packaging associated batteries, motors, transmissions, controllers, and associated components. In the described embodiment enclosed, a vehicle comprises a frame supported by a plurality of ground engaging members, and the frame is configured to support a plurality of seats. The vehicle includes a powertrain comprising a battery supported by the frame and the battery is under at least partially under at least one of the seats. The powertrain also includes a motor supported by the frame and a propeller shaft extends from a position rearward of the battery to a position forward of the battery. The propeller shaft extends along a portion of the vehicle centerline, and when viewed from a side perspective view, the propeller shaft laterally overlaps at least a portion of the battery.

    Abstract: An engine is disclosed having a water cooling system allowing efficient cooling of the exhaust valves to prevent temperature gradients from building in the engine. Water is therefore pumped through the engine though first and second water cooling cores which discharge through the head. A water manifold is positioned over the discharge opening and includes couplings for the radiator supply, radiator return, water pump supply, oil cooler supply and oil cooler return. The engine has separate chambers to isolate the pistons and cylinders, and reed valves cover the chambers and allow the blow-by gases and oil to enter the oil pan during the power stroke of the engine cycle.
