    Abstract: A permanent magnet electrical machine comprises a stator 12 having a plurality of stator coils 15 extending around respective stator teeth 14, the coils 15 having respective coil axes extending parallel to the rotational axis of the machine. A rotor 20 axially spaced apart from the stator 12 has a plurality of circumferentially arranged permanent magnets 21. The stator teeth 14 and magnets 21 comprise opposed faces on opposite sides and an air gap 23, the faces being of a complementary profile having both a radially facing, in-between facing and an axially-facing component of inclination relative to the rotational axis of the machine. The inclination of the opposed faces maximises the active surface area for magnetic flux thereby substantially increasing the power density and efficiency of the motor compared with conventional axial flux machines.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a magnetic guiding device having a stator and a slide movable along a guiding direction relative to the stator, the stator and the slide being magnetized or magnetizable such that a magnetic field extending through the stator and the slide generates a magnetic supporting force on the slide acting along the guiding direction. To improve the running properties of the slide by avoiding differential slip, jerking and varying friction, according to the invention, the magnetic field extending through the stator and the slide simultaneously generates a magnetic pretensioning force which urges the slide and the stator against each other.

    Abstract: An electric machine, (e.g., for an aircraft), includes a stator and a rotor that is rotatable relative to the stator, wherein a gap by way of which magnetic forces act between the stator and the rotor is configured between a gap face of the stator and a gap face of the rotor. The electric machine further includes a bearing installation by which the rotor is mounted so as to be rotatable relative to the stator in such a manner that the gap face of the rotor in a normal operation of the electric machine is spaced apart from the gap face of the stator.     Abstract: An electric generator for a wind turbine is provided including a stator or rotor, the stator or rotor having plurality of winding systems, each winding system covering a respective angular portion of the stator or rotor about an axis of rotation of the electric generator, and a controller for controlling the current flowing in the winding systems. The controller is configured for receiving or determining a thickness of an airgap between the stator and the rotor and controlling the current flowing in at least one of the winding systems so that a respective magnetic radial force is generated, the magnetic radial force acting on the stator and/or rotor for increasing the airgap where the airgap is below a threshold airgap value.
