Abstract:
A device is disclosed for the automatic operation of a sliding door particularly a sliding door of a vehicle which in a final closure phase follows a path which is arcuate or inclined with respect to the longitudinal direction of closure. An endless belt is provided, to which the door is fixed, and the belt is mounted between two pulleys. One of the pulleys has a fixed position with respect to the door frame, and the other pulley can be displaced between limits on a pivoted arm, suitably guided, so as to accommodate the transverse movement of the door relative to the door frame.
Abstract:
Rotary locks used on transit vehicle doors when opened and closed by a rotating helical door drive member. In a preferred embodiment, a first lock utilizes a negative thread portion of the helical drive. A second lock utilizes a rotating lock pawl and stop. The drive and lock can be used to operate door systems with and without separate door hangers. Compensation for camber variations in car structure is provided through the use of spherical mounts or drive member journals.
Abstract:
A power door operator for multi-passenger mass transit vehicles, typically buses, features electric actuation of dual swinging doors. A manual activator having an ergonometrically correct actuating plunger, for emergency door opening, operates a sleeved clutch. Fixed to the sleeve clutch is a drive bar with arms having individually adjustable lengths. The drive arms actuate outboard door shaft levers on individual door leaf through door drive rods intermediate the door arms and drive arms. Each rod incorporates spherical rod ends. The drive arms also actuate limit switches establishing door opened and door closed circuitry for energizing the electric drive system. The adjustable length clutch door drive arms provide a convenient device for controlling door leaf closing sequence and residual or door holding force when the doors are in a closed position.
Abstract:
A door system of the swivel-sliding type for use in a vehicle, suitable in particular for a vehicle for public transport, the door system comprising at least one door panel; suspension means for the at least one door panel, which comprise a telescopic guide; and a drive system for the at least one door panel, wherein the drive system comprises at least one piston-cylinder assembly of which a first movable part is connected to the telescopic guide via a system of arms and rods so as to cause the telescopic guide in operation to perform a plugging movement, while a second part of the piston-cylinder assembly is provided with a projection extending into a track having a first section extending substantially transverse to the at least one door panel and an adjoining section extending substantially parallel to the telescopic guide, the projection forming a part of a pantograph construction mounted between a fixed pivot point and a point of attachment on the door panel, said pantograph construction transmitting the movement of the projection to the door.
Abstract:
A reversible-screw- (3) and-nut (14) actuating device is connected by a coupling (12, 13) to a sliding door, the screw (3) itself being connected to a motor. A carriage (11) which can move along the screw comprises a lock (16, 22, 28, 24) for locking this carriage automatically when the nut (14) reaches one end of its travel and for unlocking it automatically when the screw is moved in the opposite direction. The lock (16, 22, 28, 24) can move with respect to the nut and is stressed toward a locking position by a helical spring (29) working in the direction of its winding. A manual unlocking means comprises a plate (37) which can move about an axis (40) so as to align the locking finger (22) and its roller (28) with a slide channel (23) counter to the spring (29), this unlocking being possible even when the screw forces in the direction of closing for safety reasons, the unlocking then being validated only when the screw is released.Application to a door of a public transport vehicle.See FIG. 3.
Abstract:
An opening-closing mechanism for a hinged panel or sectional overhead garage door which is located laterally along the top door panel and has an integrally associated electric motor and speed reduction drive component located mediate of and for a direct reaction with opposed vertical and horizontal gear and roller guide tracks having a specific curvature in the area of transition movement of door panels from vertical to horizontal.
Abstract:
A closure device for opening and closing an opening by moving a closure member substantially vertically has a motor for driving the closure member. The motor is secured to a lower portion of the closure member and within substantially the same plane as the plane of movement of the closure member. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent an eccentric load from being applied to the closure member.
Abstract:
An automatic-door lock system in which an endless belt running round a driving pulley driven by an electric motor and a driven pulley spaced apart from the driving pulley, comprises: means for issuing a pulse signal proportionate to a speed of a door member; an automatic door controller which receives the pulse signal to determine the condition of the door member in its position, travel direction and speed on the basis of the pulse signal, and numerically controls the electric motor; a lock mechanism for locking the door member, the lock mechanism having an electromagnet element which is so energized as to attract the driven pulley to its stationary member to make it possible to lock up the door member; and an electromagnetic lock controller for permitting a current to flow through the electromagnet element at a time when the automatic door controller determines that the speed of the door member is reduced to zero in a closing area of the door member.
Abstract:
A system for controlling a gate includes a microprocessor which normally automatically recloses a gate after it has been opened in response to a radio or sensor loop signal, and which normally locks the gate against movement when the gate motor is stopped. When an obstruction is sensed in the path of the gate, the automatic reclosing feature and the sensor loops are disabled, the gate drive remains unlocked even though the motor is stopped, and the response of the system to a radio signal is changed to produce alternating opening and closing of the gate on successive radio signals. At all times, the gate drive lock is released before the motor is started and is not engaged until after the gate has come to rest. Field adjustment of the obstruction sensor is avoided by generating an obstruction signal only when the gate speed falls below the operating speed of a gate imposing the largest design load on the motor, and the speed at which an obstruction is sensed is adjustable in discrete increments by digital switches so that the specific load level at which the system sees an obstruction may be selected to fit various conditions.
Abstract:
The present invention sets forth a garage door sealing apparatus wherein a plurality of electric motors are integrally secured to each door track of a typical garage reciprocating door. Upon closing of the door, the plurality of electric motors each pull the associated track into engagement with the framework of the garage and wherein movement is halted upon the associated door contacting at least one limit switch. This arrangement pulls the garage door into sealing engagement with the associated framework to minimize heat loss through a garage.
