Abstract:
A stability monitoring and alarm system for a motor vehicle (e.g., a truck or a tractor trailer) provides an early warning to the driver of unsafe or potentially unsafe conditions. Front wheel desynchronization and rear load distribution are each monitored, and an alarm is generated if either the front wheels become desynchronized or the load is unevenly distributed in the rear of the vehicle. Various filtering and averaging techniques avoid false alarms and increase reliability and sensitivity. Thresholding of the front wheel desynchronization comparison is based on a model which takes turning lateral G force for particular speeds into account so that an alarm based on front wheel descynchronization is not generated because of taking turns too rapidly. Rather, such alarm is generated by monitoring shifting rear load distribution --a better and more accurate measure of vehicle stability. The resulting indications provided by an easy to read user interface warn the driver of a variety of conditions (e.g., loss of traction due to hydroplaning or ice, shifting rear load, equipment failure, etc.) to help avoid accidents.
Abstract:
An improved non-condensible gas injection process for recovering hydrocarbons from a subterranean formation. The process includes the use of alpha-olefin sulfonate monomer and alpha-olefin sulfonate dimer surfactants along with the gas to form a gas-foam drive medium which is injected into the formation through at least one injection well to enhance the recovery of hydrocarbons from at least one production well.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed for rapidly provisioning of virtual storage objects, whereby such rapid provisioning does not require clearing of physical storage resources when initialized for use in a virtual storage object. Accordingly, a virtual storage object of embodiments of the invention is provisioned without the time-intensive process of clearing (e.g., writing zeroes to) data blocks of the physical storage resources.
Abstract:
Compounds useful for treating cellular proliferative diseases and disorders by modulating the activity of one or more mitotic kinesins are disclosed.
Abstract:
Some embodiments relate to an example towable power generation system. The towable power generation system includes an internal combustion engine and an alternator driven by the internal combustion engine to generate electrical power. The towable power generation system further includes a skid such that the internal combustion engine and alternator are mounted on the skid. The towable power generation system further includes a structural frame that includes at least one gaseous fuel source for supplying fuel to the internal combustion engine. The skid is configured to be mounted onto the structural frame and/or a movable vehicle. The skid is also configured to be mounted on the ground. The structural frame is adapted to be mounted onto the movable vehicle. The structural frame is also adapted to be mounted on the ground.
Abstract:
An excavator tooth mounting member attachable to an abutment of an excavator shovel, for supporting an excavator tooth, wherein the abutment has an opening, and having a tooth mounting member with an opening, attachable to the abutment, a two part wedge secured within the openings which can be operated to expand or contract, and a rotary bolt in the wedge.
Abstract:
A tooth retention device for attachment to an excavator bucket, which has a tooth mounting portion, a fork shaped body fitting over the edge of the bucket, a clamp passing through the body and the bucket, and a wedge holding the clamp in position, in which the wedge has a threaded rod and a threaded block on the rod. The rod is rotatable to move the block between locked and released positions.
