The present invention is an apparatus which extends the reach of a user during the process of cleaning after the use of the bathroom. The cleaning hand portion of the invention is covered in cleaning paper (or toilet paper) and held in position, thereby allowing the user to wipe or clean after defecation. The invention further provides extended reach through the use of a shaft, connected to said cleaning hand.

A lighting apparatus includes a string of serially-connected light emitting devices and a bypass circuit coupled to first and second nodes of the string and configured to variably conduct a bypass current around at least one of the light-emitting devices responsive to a temperature and/or a total current in the string. In some embodiments, the bypass circuit includes a variable resistance circuit coupled to the first and second nodes of the string and configured to variably conduct the bypass current around the at least one of the light-emitting devices responsive to a control voltage applied to a control node and a compensation circuit coupled to the control node and configured to vary the control voltage responsive to a temperature and/or total string current.

A composition of matter comprises a plurality of quantum dots and a metal thiol polymer that acts to stabilize the quantum dots. In certain embodiments, the metal thiol polymer is a zinc thiol polymer. The zinc thiol polymer may be a zinc alkanethiolate. The zinc alkanethiolate may be zinc dodecanethiolate (Zn-DDT). A composition comprising a plurality of quantum dots and a metal thiol polymer may be formulated with one or more additional polymers as a quantum dot-containing bead or as a quantum dot-containing composite material—e.g., a multilayer film.

A process for producing nanoparticles incorporating ions selected from groups 13, 16, and 11 or 12 of the periodic table, and materials produced by the process. In an embodiment, the process includes effecting conversion of a nanoparticle precursor composition comprising group 13, 16, and 11 or 12 ions to the material of the nanoparticles in the presence of a selenol compound. Other embodiments include a process for fabricating a thin film including nanoparticles incorporating ions selected from groups 13, 16, and 11 or 12 of the periodic table as well as a process for producing a printable ink formulation including the nanoparticles.
