Abstract:
A vial adapter for use with a syringe having a widened distal syringe tip, and a medicinal vial. The vial adapter includes a top wall, a skirt for telescopically slidingly receiving the medicinal vial, a downwardly depending puncturing spike, and a syringe port opposite the puncturing spike and in flow communication therewith. The syringe port is formed with at least two upright syringe port members for being initially outwardly flexed on the sliding insertion of the widened distal syringe tip into the syringe port and subsequently snapping behind the widened distal syringe tip on its forced full sliding insertion into the syringe port to retain the widened distal syringe tip in said syringe port.
Abstract:
A power supply contact is mountable on a base of a device having a geometry for receiving a power supply and for surface installation of a printed circuit board. The power supply contact includes a base plate mountable on the base of the device, a rail extends upwardly from the base plate, a power supply terminal and an adaptor connecting the rail to the power supply terminal. The rail is in electrical contact with the printed circuit board and the power supply terminal is in electrical contact with the power supply when the printed circuit board and the power supply are installed in the device.
Abstract:
Valve assemblies for use with a liquid container and a drug vial for enabling an initial transfer of liquid contents from the liquid container to the drug vial for liquid drug formation purposes and subsequent transfer of liquid drug contents from the drug vial to the liquid container for administration purposes. Liquid drug transfer sets can include a valve assembly pre-attached to a liquid container. Alternatively, liquid drug transfer sets can include a valve assembly packaged in sterile blister packaging ready for attachment to a liquid container prior to use.
Abstract:
An aspect of some embodiments of the current application is a doorstop to a drug delivery apparatus that encourages a user of the apparatus to perform the proper usage steps in the proper order. For example, a user may be expected to receive an injector in a transport state, open it to an open state, insert a cartridge, and/or close the cartridge before operation. The doorstop may have an obstructing mode, optionally preventing closing of the door. The cartridge may optionally have a non-obstructing mode allowing closing of the door. Inserting the cartridge may optionally cause a doorstop to move from the obstructing mode to the non-obstructing mode. In the non-obstructing mode the doorstop may optionally prevent removal of the cartridge.
Abstract:
In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention an automated injection device may be loaded with a standard type syringe and/or hypodermic needle. Optionally the syringe may be supplied loaded with medicine and/or covered with a sterile needle cover. The syringe may be loaded into the injector with in a sterile state with needle cover in place. Injector may include for example a fastener (for example an adhesive base). In some embodiments, the fastener may assist a user to hold injector steady on the skin of a patient for an extended period. For example, injector may be used to give injections of volume ranging between 0.5 and 3.0 ml over a time period ranging between 30 sec to 180 sec.
Abstract:
Apparatus is described for administering a substance to a subject. A vial contains the substance and a stopper is disposed within the vial and is slidably coupled to the vial. A first threaded element is (a) rotatable with respect to the vial and (b) substantially immobile proximally with respect to the vial during rotation of the first threaded element. A second threaded element is threadedly coupled to the first threaded element. At least a distal end of the second threaded element is substantially non-rotatable with respect to the vial, and the distal end of the second threaded element defines a coupling portion that couples the second threaded element to the stopper. The first threaded element, by rotating, linearly advances the stopper and at least the distal end of the second threaded element toward a distal end of the vial. Other embodiments are also described.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for delivery of a drug to a recipient. In some embodiments, the delivery apparatus may include a mechanical drive train. Motion of the drive train may drive priming of the device. Subsequently motion of the drive train may discharge the drug. The priming may include unsealing a drug reservoir and/or locking a door. In some embodiments, the rate of discharging may be controlled and/or adjustable. Optionally the apparatus may be disposable. Optionally, the apparatus may have a base that is attachable to the recipient. Optionally, motion of the drive train may be parallel to the base of the apparatus. Optionally, the apparatus may release a hypodermic needle into the recipient. Optionally, release of the hypodermic needle may be in a direction non-parallel and/or orthogonal to the motion of the drive train.
Abstract:
A drug delivery device may include sterile needle covered by removable a sterility preserving protector. The device optionally includes skin contact surface and a needle protector for preventing a stick hazard upon removal of the skin contact surface from an injection site or angle without Removing completely. Optionally, the needle protector may include a shield that interferes with replacement of the needle protector. In some embodiments, the needle cover may interfere with deployment of the needle protector.
Abstract:
A syringe cartridge comprising a reservoir part and an extension extending from said reservoir part, said extension defining a fluid path and comprising a molding and a first needle extending from said molding, the extension turning to a finite angle with respect to an axis of said reservoir part and wherein at least part of said first needle is likewise at said finite angle, at least some of said part of said first needle at said finite angle being enclosed within said molding of said fluid path.A drug delivery device may be used with the cartridge and includes a skin-contacting surface. In use the longitudinal axis of the interior of the cartridge may be disposed substantially parallel to the skin-contacting surface.
