Abstract:
The invention relates to systems and methods for rapidly and isothermally expanding and compressing gas in energy storage and recovery systems that use open-air hydraulic-pneumatic cylinder assemblies, such as an accumulator and an intensifier in communication with a high-pressure gas storage reservoir on a gas-side of the circuits and a combination fluid motor/pump, coupled to a combination electric generator/motor on the fluid side of the circuits. The systems use heat transfer subsystems in communication with at least one of the cylinder assemblies or reservoir to thermally condition the gas being expanded or compressed.
Abstract:
A system, method, and computer program product are provided for controlling stereo glasses shutters. In use, a right eye shutter of stereo glasses is controlled to switch between a closed orientation and an open orientation. Further, a left eye shutter of the stereo glasses is controlled to switch between the closed orientation and the open orientation. To this end, the right eye shutter and the left eye shutter of the stereo glasses may be controlled such that the right eye shutter and the left eye shutter simultaneously remain in the closed orientation for a predetermined amount of time.
Abstract:
A method and device for separating particles from a liquid having particles therein, using a filter sized to permit the liquid to flow through pores, while retaining a substantial portion of the particles on the filter, with an absorbent layer contacting the back of the filter to facilitate liquid movement away from the particles.
Abstract:
A system, and method are provided for dithering depth values. The depth values include a plurality of first depth values associated with a first object and a plurality of second depth values associated with a second object. Additionally, the first depth values and the second depth values are stored in a depth map in a predetermined configuration. In addition, the predetermined configuration takes on a checkerboard pattern.
Abstract:
An asymmetric semiconductor device (10) and method of forming the same in which 25V devices can be fabricated in processes with gate oxide thicknesses designed for 2.75 or 5.5V maximum operation. The device includes: a shallow trench isolation (STI) region (12) that forms a dielectric between a drain region (18) and a gate region (20) of a unit cell to allow for high voltage operation; and an n-type well (14) and a p-type well (24) patterned within the unit cell.
Abstract:
A system, method, and computer program product are provided for compensating for crosstalk during the display of stereo content. In use, display content is received for being outputted utilizing a display system. Such display system inherently exhibits crosstalk, whereby an amount of left eye display content is displayed to a right eye of a user and an amount of right eye display content is displayed to a left eye of the user. Thus, prior to outputting the display content utilizing the display system, the display content is processed utilizing a graphics processor to compensate for the amount of the left eye display content to be displayed to the right eye of the user and the amount of the right eye display content to be displayed to the left eye of the user. In one embodiment where the crosstalk is a function of pixel location, the compensation may also be a function of pixel location. [e.g. in the case of a liquid crystal display (LCD), etc.]
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a composition and method of providing ionic forms or compounds of any combination of three metals to produce a product that can be used as a antimicrobial as defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) such as a hard surface disinfectant and as a foliar spray or water treatment for the control of various diseases in garden row, field and tree crops, on hard surface areas such as equipment from infected fields or in hospitals, homes, etc. as well as against a wide range of human, plant and animal diseases. Additionally, the composition of the present invention is able to be used to coat and otherwise treat and disinfect food products such as but not limited to fish and shellfish, meat, milk, poultry, eggs and irrigated crops (both food and nonfood crops) as well as non food products as defined in the EPA exemption from tolerance for copper and copper products. The composition may include inerts such as surfactants, detergents and buffers to adjust the pH. The composition remains soluble in water and is useful efficacious against the spread of bacteria, viruses and fungi and other pathogens within a source of water such as a reservoir or pool. Alternatively, the composition may be in aerosolized, misted, vaporized, fogged, humidified forms to produce micronized particles which are able to remain in suspension in the air for long periods of time in order to act on air-borne fungal spores and/or pathogens.
Abstract:
Function spaces defined by scaling functions are used to generate bandlimited noise octaves and other attribute data sets. Scaling functions are basis functions that admit multiresolution analysis and include piecewise constant scaling functions, piecewise polynomial scaling functions, bandlimited scaling functions, Daubeschies scaling functions, as well as other multiresolution analysis scaling basis functions known to those of skill in the art. Scaling basis functions can be locally supported or have infinite support. The properties of the scaling basis functions used to construct bandlimited noise octaves may ensure that any bandlimited noise octave at resolution level N is orthogonal to bandlimited noise octaves and their associated scaling basis functions at all resolution levels less than N. Bandlimited noise octaves can be scaled to any resolution level and guaranteed to have no effect on images at any lower resolution level.
