Abstract: In accordance with the present disclosure, disadvantages and problems associated with timing accuracies of higher data rate communications systems may be reduced. In accordance with one embodiment of the present disclosure a wireless communication element comprises a first controller configured to generate data transfer information indicating a trigger value. The wireless communication element further comprises a second controller communicatively coupled to the first controller. The second controller comprises a counter configured to increment a counter value and is configured to receive the data transfer information from the first controller. The second controller is further configured to generate a data transfer trigger when the counter value corresponds with the trigger value such that the wireless communication element initiates a data transfer with a second wireless communication element in response to the data transfer trigger.

Abstract: Optical pump modules using VCSEL arrays are provided to pump optical gain media for achieving high power laser output in CW, QCW and pulse operation modes for operation. Low divergence and symmetric far-field emission from VCSELs are particularly suitable for compact arrays. VCSEL arrays configured as laser pump modules are operable at high temperatures with practically no degradation over a long period of time. VCSEL pump modules are adaptable for side- or end-pumping configurations to pump high power lasers in CW, QCW and pulse mode. Power output from VCSEL pump modules is scalable. Incorporating microlens arrays with the VCSEL arrays improve brightness of the pump modules. High power and high temperature operation of VCSEL modules make it suitable for making compact high power solid state lasers that are operable in small spaces such as, ignition of internal combustion engines, stationary power generation engines and pulsed detonation engines.

Abstract: Embodiments include methods and apparatus for performing transmit power control. A gain application element receives a sequence of digital input samples and a digital gain signal, and combines the digital gain signal with the digital input samples to generate a sequence of gain-compensated digital samples. A power amplifier receives and amplifies an analog version of the gain-compensated digital samples in order to generate an antenna output signal. A feedback path generates an analog feedback signal from the antenna output signal, produces a sequence of digital feedback samples from the analog feedback signal, and generates difference values based on the digital feedback samples. When a specified type of constant modulus symbol is represented in the antenna output symbol, the feedback path accumulates the difference values into an accumulated error value, and produces the digital gain signal from the accumulated error value.

Abstract: A method is described for treating fabrics, yarns and individual fibers to improve the mechanical properties thereof, for example their wrinkle-resistance, by treating the fabric, yarn, and fibers in a solution containing polymer nanoparticles. The nanoparticles include two sizes of particles and an appropriate selection of the nanoparticles to control the degree and mode of cross-linking in the fabric with corresponding control of the mechanical properties. The nanoparticles can be provided with an electrical charge that can be opposite in sign to any charge carried by the fabric in order to enhance the formation of a polymer film on the fabric.

In a transmitter, a gain application element receives and combines digital input samples and a digital gain signal to generate gain-compensated digital samples. A power amplifier receives and amplifies an analog version of the gain-compensated digital samples to generate an antenna output signal. A feedback path generates an analog feedback signal from the antenna output signal, to produce a sequence of digital feedback samples from the analog feedback signal, and generates the digital gain signal from the sequence of digital feedback samples and a loop gain estimate. A loop delay and gain calculator calculates a loop delay estimate from the gain-compensated digital samples and the sequence of digital feedback samples, and calculates the loop gain estimate using the loop delay estimate, the gain-compensated digital samples, and the sequence of digital feedback samples.
