    摘要: A process and a mixture for oxidizing an alkyl-aromatic compound comprises forming a mixture comprising the alkyl-aromatic compound, a solvent, a bromine source, and a catalyst; and contacting the mixture with an oxidizing agent at oxidizing conditions to produce an oxidation product comprising at least one of an aromatic aldehyde, an aromatic alcohol, an aromatic ketone, and an aromatic carboxylic acid. The solvent comprises a carboxylic acid having from 1 to 7 carbon atoms and an ionic liquid selected from the group consisting of an imidazolium ionic liquid, a pyridinium ionic liquid, a phosphonium ionic liquid, a tetra alkyl ammonium ionic liquid, and combinations thereof. The catalyst comprises at least one of cobalt, titanium, manganese, chromium, copper, nickel, vanadium, iron, molybdenum, tin, cerium, and zirconium.

    摘要: The apparatus converts ethylene in a dilute ethylene stream and dilute benzene in an aromatic containing stream via alkylation to heavier hydrocarbons. The catalyst may be a zeolite such as UZM-8. The catalyst is resistant to feed impurities such as hydrogen sulfide, carbon oxides, and hydrogen and selectively converts benzene. At least 40 wt-% of the ethylene in the dilute ethylene stream and at least 20 wt-% of the benzene in the dilute benzene stream can be converted to heavier hydrocarbons.

    摘要: A method of generating power by passing a dimethyl ether-containing fuel to a dry low NOx combustor of a fired turbine-combustor in the presence of an oxygen-containing gas for combustion in the combustor to form flue gas, and then passing the flue gas to the turbine to generate power, wherein the fuel comprises a mixture of dimethyl ether, at least one alcohol and, optionally, a component selected from the group consisting of water and C1-C6 alkanes. The fuel composition used in the inventive method permits a safe and highly efficient operation of a dry low NOx combustion system, while at the same time, minimizing the generation of NOx and carbon monoxide emissions.

    摘要: A process for manufacturing a collapsed composition is described in which the manufactured composition is substantially composed of microcrystallites collectively of the formula: ##EQU1## where M.sup.2+ is a divalent metal, M.sup.3+ is a trivalent metal, and T is vanadium, tungsten, or molybdenum. The microcrystallites are so small as to be undetectable through conventional x-ray diffraction techniques, yet high resolution electron microscopy reveals that a substantial portion of the microcrystallites are composed of a solid solution having aluminum oxide molecularly dispersed in a divalent metal monoxide crystal structure. Another portion of the microcrystallites are constituted by a spinel phase. The collapsed composition is suitable as a sulfur oxide absorbent, having comparatively high capacity and comparatively fast absorption and desorption rates, and is also suitable as a nitrogen oxide reduction catalyst. The collapsed composition may be produced by heat treating a layered mixed hydroxide clay having interlayer anions in monometalate form. The reagents for the manufacturing process are relatively salt-free, as compared to reagents utilized in previous manufacturing processes.
