The task operations may be associated with an energy consumption that exceeds an energy consumption associated with the low-power wireless communications, allowing the proximal devices that suspend task operations to reduce their overall energy consumption.

In some embodiments, the technology can receive an indication of a compression level for a first content type, wherein the compression level specifies a tolerance level for lossy compression; receive a request for content, the content having at least two portions, wherein a first portion has first content of the first content type and the second portion has second content of a second content type, a first compression method associated with the indicated compression level and a second compression method associated with a different compression level. Abstract: Technologies are generally described for systems, devices and methods effective to set up image data to be processed by an augmented reality device. In some examples, a processor may generate image data from light reflected from a real object. The image data may represent, or may be a digital representation of, the real object. The processor may analyze a skin stack of augmented reality skins and identify one of the augmented reality skins stored in the memory. The augmented reality skin may include instructions effective to modify some of the image data when the image data includes a feature. The processor may create metadata related to the image data. The metadata may relate to the presence of the feature in the image data. The processor may store the metadata in the memory.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided that are effective to generate an alarm for a vehicle. The methods include receiving, by a device, a first sensor value from a first sensor for the vehicle. The methods further include receiving, by the device, a second sensor value from a second sensor for the vehicle. The methods further include retrieving, by the device, an instruction from a memory disposed in the vehicle while the memory is in a write-protected mode. The methods further include evaluating, by the device, the first sensor value and the second sensor value based on the instruction. The methods further include determining, by the device, that the first sensor value is outside a range associated with the first sensor based on the evaluation. The methods further include transforming, by the device, the determination into an alarm.

Abstract: Technologies are generally described herein for writing data to either volatile or nonvolatile memory. An estimated time for a last write operation to occur and an estimated time to a power down event are determined. A threshold time is generated from the estimated time for a last write operation to occur and the estimated time to a power down event. The threshold time represents time at which a cost to write to volatile memory may become greater than a cost to write to nonvolatile memory. The cost may be based at least in part on the need to copy data stored in a volatile memory to be persisted after a power down event from the volatile to the nonvolatile memory.
