    Abstract: A method of controlling communications within a wireless communications network is provided. The method comprises in advance of transmitting the data by a child node to a donor node, configuring, by one of the donor node and a parent node, a Buffer Status Report, general BSR timer for the child node, the general BSR timer being common and synchronised among at least a subset of a plurality of infrastructure equipment, receiving, at the parent node, subsequent to expiry of the general BSR timer, a signal comprising a BSR from the child node indicating an amount of uplink data that the child node has ready to transmit to the parent node, and scheduling, by the parent node, in accordance with the BSR received from the child node, communications resources of the backhaul communications link to the child node in which the child node is to transmit the uplink data.

    Abstract: A method comprising controlling a receiver of a communications device to reduce a power consumption in accordance with a discontinuous reception, DRX, off period in which no signals representing scheduling information are received via a physical downlink control channel when in a connected mode and in which the communications device can reduce a power to the receiver, controlling the receiver of the communications device to increase the power consumption so as to detect whether or not signals from a group control channel have been received by the receiver either during the DRX off period or during a first time slot of a DRX on period in which signals representing scheduling information may be transmitted by the wireless communications network via the physical downlink control channel and in which the communications device may increase the power to the receiver.

    Abstract: A method of operating a communications device for receiving user plane data from a wireless communications network when the communications device is not in an active radio resource connected mode is provided. The method comprises receiving a message from the wireless communications network, the message including an indication that the wireless communications network has user plane data for transmission to the communications device while the communications device is not in an active mode, determining from the message a set of radio resources on which the user plane data is to be transmitted, wherein the user plane data is to be received by the communications device from the wireless communications network as part of a random access procedure, and transmitting to the wireless communications network an indication of whether or not the communications device successfully received the user plane data using the determined set of radio resources.

    Abstract: A method of controlling communications within a wireless communications network is provided. The communications network comprises a plurality of infrastructure equipment each being configured to communicate with one or more others of the infrastructure equipment via a backhaul communications link, one or more of the infrastructure equipment each being configured to communicate with one or more communications devices via a wireless access interface. The method comprises receiving, at a first of the infrastructure equipment acting as a donor node connected to a core network part of the wireless communications network, from a second of the infrastructure equipment, information relating to each of a plurality of different communications paths from the second infrastructure equipment to the first infrastructure equipment via one or more others of the infrastructure equipment acting as relay nodes, determining, based on the received information relating to the plurality of different communications paths, that either at least a part of a new communications path exists between the first of the infrastructure equipment and the second of the infrastructure equipment or at least a part of a previously known communications path no longer exists between the first of the infrastructure equipment and the second of the infrastructure equipment, and updating a communications path list by either adding the at least the part of the new communications path or deleting the at least the part of the previously known communications path that no longer exists.

    Abstract: A method comprising receiving, at a first infrastructure equipment of a wireless network, a command from a second infrastructure equipment comprising an indication that a downlink message for a communications device to decode should be transmitted by the first infrastructure equipment and that a wake-up signal should be transmitted by the first infrastructure equipment to the communications device in advance of transmitting the downlink message, and transmitting the wake-up signal to the communications device in advance of transmitting the downlink message to provide the communications device with an indication that the downlink message for the communications device to decode will be transmitted. The wake-up signal comprises a preamble formed by a plurality of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed, OFDM, symbols, each of the OFDM symbols being modulated with a reference sequence.

    Abstract: A method of controlling communications within a wireless communications network is provided. The method comprises determining, by a first of the infrastructure equipment acting as a donor node connected to a core network part of the wireless communications network, that a plurality of different communications paths exist from a second infrastructure equipment to the first infrastructure equipment via one or more other infrastructure equipment acting as relay nodes, transmitting, by the first infrastructure equipment, an indication at least part of each of one or more of the plurality of different communications paths to the second infrastructure equipment, and selecting, by the second infrastructure equipment based on the indication received from the first infrastructure equipment, at least one of the plurality of different communications paths for communicating with the first infrastructure equipment.

    Abstract: A terminal device for use with a wireless telecommunications network, the terminal device comprising: sensor circuitry configured to detect a value of a parameter which is variable in response to a variation in vertical position of the terminal device; receiver circuitry configured to receive, from infrastructure equipment of the wireless telecommunications network, a reference value of the parameter and a reference value of the vertical position at which the reference value of the parameter is associated; processing circuitry configured to determine a value of the vertical position of the terminal device defined relative to a second reference vertical position, wherein the determining comprises: determining the second reference vertical position based on a geographical position of the terminal device; determining a value of the vertical position of the terminal device defined relative to the first reference vertical position based on the detected value of the parameter; determining the value of the vertical position of the terminal device defined relative to the second reference vertical position based on a difference between the determined value of the vertical position of the terminal device defined relative to the first reference vertical position and the second reference vertical position.
