摘要： A filter device inserts into a duct having flow passing from upstream to downstream. The filter device includes fluted filter media having flutes formed therein. The filter forms a seal between the outer edge of the filter and the downstream side of the duct. The filter media may be rolled or stacked in layers to match the shape of the duct.

摘要： An apparatus for modifying an exhaust stream of a diesel engine is provided. The apparatus includes a muffler arrangement having an exhaust inlet and an exhaust outlet in construct and arrange for sound attenuation therein. The apparatus also includes a catalytic converter arrangement positioned within the muffler arrangement between the exhaust inlet and exhaust outlet. During operation, the exhaust flow is directed both through the muffler arrangement and the catalytic converter arrangement, to advantage.

摘要： In a diesel engine exhaust system a plurality of valved ceramic filters are connected in parallel in the exhaust stream and loaded sequentially. While one filter is preferentially loaded, a second filter is opened to the exhaust stream when backpressure reaches a predetermined value. The secondary filter is removed from the exhaust stream when air flow to the engine drops a discrete amount below a peak air flow determined by the backpressure which would cause the secondary filter to be placed in the exhaust stream. The preferentially loaded filter is bypassed when completely loaded and regenerated. The secondary filter is then preferentially loaded and the sequence continues.

摘要： Muffler-filter apparatus for reducing both sound and particulates from exhaust gases from an engine. The apparatus includes resonating chambers, flow distribution means and a cellular ceramic core filter module. Filter regeneration mechanism includes a heating element for heating the carbon on the inlet end of the ceramic core to combustion temperature. Particulate ignition resulting in regeneration occurs when combustion air is provided. In alternate embodiments, combustion air first flows through a preheater system. A processor unit with particular logic controls the apparatus. The particular method of regeneration depends on the application in which the muffler-filter is used.

摘要： An integral formed fluted tube intended, for example, for use as a sound suppression device in mufflers, exhaust ejectors, etc. is disclosed. The tube is formed of a cylindrical portion with generally circular inlets and outlets and a constricted portion between those ends and within the constriction, a plurality of bypasses therethrough. The constriction may also include a frontal portion having a generally concave surface which rises to an apex and thereafter forms a plurality of convex rear portions toward the outlet end. Other embodiments are shown in the Figures. The device may be used integrally within a muffler to obtain a venturi effect for an exhaust ejector and sound suppressor.

摘要： Fluted filter media includes filter material having a plurality of flutes formed therein having alternating ends of adjacent flutes closed to force fluid through filter material. A first embodiment of the filter media includes tapered flutes which have the open ends of the flutes larger in cross-section than the closed flutes, wherein the upstream open flutes converge toward the downstream end and the upstream closed end flutes diverge toward the downstream end. A second embodiment includes filter media which is asymmetric formed with dissimilar upstream and downstream flute cross-sections with larger flute openings to the upstream side of the filter. A third embodiment includes filter media with an upstream edge crushed to improve flow at the upstream edge. A fourth embodiment includes filter media with the upstream sealing material recessed from the upstream edge for reducing effects from blockages at the upstream edge of the filter.
