Abstract:
A cross-linkable UV curable coating layer disposed over flocked fibers on an automotive component requiring improved squeak and itch resistance and freeze release is provided. The coating layer includes an elongated member having along a pre-determined portion of the member flocked fibers. The elongated member finds application as a weatherstrip or seal.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a flocked planar product having a net or grid structure. In said method, a net-type or grid-type, planar starting substrate is provided with an adhesive coating into which flock fibers are introduced in an electrostatic fashion. In order to apply the adhesive coating, the starting substrate is moved through a passageway for applying adhesive between a pressing member and a transfer member that stores adhesive, and the transfer member is moved by means of the pressing member in such a way that an adhesive deposit builds up or accumulates at the inlet of the application passageway, the planar starting substrate being immersed and/or guided through said adhesive deposit.
Abstract:
A manufacturing method for multistage adhesive applying and color separation flocking, and a device specifically used therefor are disclosed. The manufacturing method comprises: (1) dividing multistage adhesive applying and flocking zones according to several blocks in different colors of a product; (2) drying and air cooling after each register adhesive applying and color separation flocking process, to form a manufacturing unit for completing one color flocking; (3) arranging successively several sets of manufacturing units according to the number of blocks in different colors; (4) starting from the first color, register adhesive applying, color separation flocking, drying and air cooling successively within respective positions of each manufacturing unit on the base cloth to be printed; (5) performing only register adhesive applying in the manufacturing unit for the last color, while performing flocking, drying and air cooling by a conventional flocking production line to cooperate therewith. The device specifically used comprises a driving mechanism for base cloth to be printed, characterized in that several sets of multistage adhesive applying, flocking, drying and air cooling apparatuses are successively arranged thereon.

The present invention is directed to flocked articles comprising a control shrinkage carrier film to absorb thermally induced shrinkage of other layers in the flocked article.
Abstract:
A card and a process for making the card are provided. The card includes a card substrate and a flock transfer attached to a first surface of the card substrate. The flock transfer includes a plurality of flock fibers oriented predominately perpendicular to the first surface and bound together as a unit at a first end of each fiber by a binder adhesive layer positioned between the flock fibers and the first surface.
Abstract:
A method for making artificial suede-like leather product includes preparing a basic sheet member, applying an adhesive material onto the basic sheet member, applying flocks onto the adhesive material, and applying an electric energy onto the flocks, to erect and to implant the flocks on the adhesive material and the basic sheet member, and to form the artificial leather product. An outer covering material may then be applied onto the flocks and the adhesive material, and disposed between the flocks, and to have root portions of the flocks engaged within the outer covering material, and to have the flocks solidly secured to the adhesive material with the outer covering material.
Abstract:
A method of producing an plush transfer applique is disclosed. The method employs and improved diminished bleed or lower density applique border allowing for a reduction or elimination of an impression line at the periphery of the transferred applique caused by the heat transfer process. The diminished bleed applique border is created by arranging a pattern at the edge or periphery of the transferred applique instead of an abrupt line of continuous density fiber, so that the resulting gradual reduction in fiber density causes the fibers to lie flat during the heat transfer process.

Abstract:
A process for producing the heat-sensitive stencil sheet is described which is a simple process, makes it possible to readily form a porous substrate layer having a good fiber dispersibility on a thermoplastic resin film without intervening any adhesive layer and allows to carry out a single production line from beginning to end. The process comprises: a process characterized by dispersing polyester binder fibers on the surface of a thermoplastic resin film by an electrostatic flocking process, thermally compressing so as to form a porous substrate layer on a stencil sheet, electrostatically flocking polyester binder fibers on the surface of a released member, then superimposing a thermoplastic resin film on the fibers-flocked surface on the released member, thermally compressing the superimposed film, and removing the released member to obtain a heat-sensitive stencil sheet; and another process characterized by electrostatically flocking polyester binder fibers on the surface of a thermoplastic resin film and thermally compressing the fibers-flocked film to form a porous substrate layer on the thermoplastic resin film.
Abstract:
A method of making an applique by printing a release adhesive upon a release sheet; flocking flock through an open section of a barrier into the adhesive to result in at least two patterns arranged to form a predetermined design adhered to the release sheet; applying a binding adhesive to free ends of the flock; transferring at least one of the predetermined designs of flock to a substrate material; and affixing the substrate material; with said predetermined design of flock to an article. An applique composed of substrate material adapted to be affixed to an article; and flock having end portions coated with a binder adhered in a predetermined design to the substrate material. A article composed of a surface area; a substrate material affixed to the surface area; a layer of binding adhesive on the substrate; and flock having end portions adhering to the layer of binding adhesive to form a predetermined design on the substrate material.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for applying refractory fibers on a surface, comprising spraying two different binders which chemically combine on the fibers as they are being sprayed preferably spraying one binder interiorly and the other, exteriorly of the sprayed fibers. One binder is an acid and the other is a base that chemically combine, such as orthophosphate pentoxide and sodium silicate, respectively.
