Abstract: A bicycle hub includes a tubular body and a first flange, a second flange and a third flange extend radially from an outer surface of the tubular body. The third flange is located between the first flange and the second flange. Abstract: A tire apparatus for driving a vehicle allows the vehicle to be driven during periods of both low tire pressure and normal tire pressure. The tire apparatus has a tire that has a tread section. The tire has a pair of side walls that are located adjacent to the tread section. A first bead is located at an end of one of the side walls, and a second bead is located at an end of the other side wall. A wheel is also present that has a rim with a first bead seat and a second bead seat. The wheel is configured for attachment to the vehicle. The wheel has a support member for engaging the tire during periods of low tire pressure. At least one of the first and second bead seats has a plurality of friction members to prevent relative rotational movement between the tire and the rim.

Abstract: A positioning device includes a sleeve member engaged with one of holes defined in the wheel rim and a base has its shank extending through a passage of the sleeve member. A threaded hole is defined in the shank so that an end of a spoke is threadedly engaged with the threaded hole in the shank. A sealing ring made of non-metallic material is mounted to the sleeve member so as to seal the hole in the rim. The coating of the rim is not scrubbed by any of the parts of the positioning device and the installing processes are easy and can be finished within a short period of time.

Abstract: A deep V-section aero rim for a tensioned spoke wheel and a method for producing it are disclosed. The rim is produced by extruding an alloy to produce a rim profile, rolling the extrusion, cutting the rolled extrusion to length, joining the free ends to produce a rim blank and mechanically reducing the thickness of the rim side walls a substantial amount. In one embodiment, each of the side walls, after extrusion, has a thickness that is sufficient to withstand buckling of the side walls during rolling. After rolling and cutting the extrusion to length, its ends are joined and each side wall, namely, the portion between the rim floor and the braking surface, is thinned, preferably by mechanical abrasion, until each side wall is so thin that an extrusion having side walls of that thickness could not be rolled without side wall buckling. In another embodiment, flanges on the outside of the side walls prevent buckling during rolling and the flanges are removed after rolling.

Abstract: A spoke fastener includes a shank extending along a shank axis and having an anchoring portion and an operating portion. The anchoring portion is formed with resilient arm segments that are angularly spaced apart from each other relative to the shank axis. Abstract: The present invention provides an improved wheel and tire for simulating the appearance of a larger-diameter wheel mounted within a low-profile tire. The wheel has an inboard side and an outboard side. The outboard side includes a wide outer flange which extends around the outer circumference of the wheel. The outer flange is preferably integral with the outboard face of the wheel and covers a substantial portion of the outboard wall of the tire within which the wheel is mounted. A design, preferably comprised of, for example, a plurality of protrusions, indentations, and slits, extends across at least a portion of the outboard face of the wheel, including the outboard face of the extended outer flange. The improved tire of the present invention is intended to be mounted on the improved wheel of the present invention with an extended outer flange. The tire comprises an outboard tire wall, an inboard tire wall, and a tread therebetween. The outboard tire wall preferably includes a laterally extending wheel protector, a ledge, and a flange seat. The flange seat is preferably contoured to match the inner face of the outer flange of the wheel and is preferably more rigid than the remainder of the tire to prevent the tire from deflecting into the outer flange of the wheel under the load of a vehicle.
