    摘要: An abnormality detecting device for an EGR system comprises an EGR valve disposed in an EGR passage to control a flow rate of exhaust gas recirculated therethrough, a first temperature detecting device disposed in the EGR passage to detect the temperature of the same, a second temperature detecting device disposed in the intake air passage of an internal combustion engine, an operational condition detecting device to output parameters of the engine or the EGR valve as signals indicating operational conditions of the engine, an EGR abnormality determining zone discriminating device adapted to discriminate that the operational conditions are in a predetermined EGR abnormality determining zone in the operable area of the engine or the EGR valve in which recirculation of the exhaust gas is controlled by the EGR valve, and an abnormality determining device to determine abnormality in the EGR system on the basis of a quantitative relation between a value of the EGR abnormality determining temperature which is obtained by the calculation of the operational conditions and an output signal of the second temperature detecting device, and a value of the temperature of the EGR passage detected by the first temperature detecting device.

    摘要: In an exhaust gas recirculation system for an internal combustion engine having an intake manifold in which a throttle valve is disposed and an exhaust gas conduit provided with a particle trap for accumulatively catching particles entrained by exhaust gas discharged from the engine, a control valve apparatus which is disposed in a recirculation passage and connected to the intake manifold downstream of the throttle valve and to the exhaust gas conduit upstream of the particle trap. The control valve apparatus comprises a first control means which is adapted for controlling the exhaust gas recirculation on the basis of the vacuum pressure prevailing in the intake manifold downstream of the throttle valve, and a second control means which is adapted for cooperating with the first control means to maintain optimum exhaust gas recirculation despite an increase in the pressure of the exhaust gas caused by clogging of the particle trap.

    摘要: An exhaust gas recirculator for an internal combustion engine having an exhaust pipe, an intake manifold and a carburetor throttle valve. The exhaust gas recirculator comprises an EGR passage which makes the exhaust pipe communicate with the intake manifold, an EGR controlling valve and an EGR valve respectively arranged in the upper and lower portions of the EGR passage. The EGR valve operates in association with the carburetor throttle valve for metering the flow of EGR gas. The EGR controlling valve is separated by a diaphragm into an EGR gas chamber communicating with the EGR passage between the EGR controlling valve and the EGR valve and a negative pressure chamber communicating with the intake manifold. The negative pressure chamber contains a compression spring, and the diaphragm is connected with a valve member through a rod upon which is disposed a stopper to serve as a different seal in place of the valve member to close off the exhaust gas passage, which valve member and stopper are constructed to be opened and closed by pressure difference between the EGR gas chamber and the negative pressure chamber and by elastic force of the compression spring. The EGR controlling valve functions to control the pressure difference around the EGR valve to be constant.
