    摘要: The present invention provides a process for aralkylation of alkylbenzenes wherein an alkylbenzene or alkylbenzenes containing in the substituent alkyl group or groups from 1 to 4 carbon atoms in total is aralkylated with at least one styrene selected from the group consisting of styrene, vinyltoluenes and .alpha.-methylstyrene which comprises carrying out the reaction by continuously feeding to a catalyst layer the above-mentioned alkylbenzene or alkylbenzenes and styrene sources in liquid phase at a temperature from 100.degree. C. to 200.degree. C., said catalyst layer being filled with synthetic silica-alumina containing from 20% by weight to 50% by weight alumina that has been calcined at a temperature in the range from 450.degree. C. to 600.degree. C.

    摘要: There is disclosed a method for preparing a catalyst useful for olefin metathesis comprising a mixture of a salt of a metal selected from tungsten, molybdenum, rhenium and tantalum, an oxygenated organic compound selected from the group represented by the formula: ##STR1## said mixture being exposed to ultraviolet radiation to give approximately 0.4 kilowatt hours per mole of the metal salt.A process of olefin metathesis utilizing this catalyst is also disclosed.

    摘要: Synthetic, high quality lubricating oils are produced through the polymerization of a single alpha-olefin or a mixture of alpha-olefins from ''''wax-cracking'''' having the formula R - CH CH2 wherein R is an alkyl radical containing from 2 to 16 C atoms, by the use, in a dry nitrogen atmosphere, of a catalyst system constituted by a compound of a transition metal selected from groups IV to VIII of the periodic system (e.g., TiCl4) and by two coordinate anionic cocatalysts, one of which is an aluminum compound of inorganic nature devoid of any metal-carbon bond and consisting of a polyiminic linear polymer (e.g., a polyimine alane represented by the formula:

    WHEREIN R is alkyl, aryl or cycloalkyl and n is a whole number from 4 to 25) and the other of which is an aluminum compound of the conventional Ziegler type with a metal-carbon link (e.g., an aluminum alkyl sesquichloride or an aluminum dialkyl monochloride.
