摘要： A water soluble cable lubricating composition and method involves a lubricant in liquid or gel form that possesses the ability to adhere to the surface to be lubricated. The composition includes an aqueous solution of from about 1 to 4% of a water soluble cellulose derivative, such as carboxymethyl cellulose, and from about 1/2 to 2% of polyacrylamide. The lubricant may also include a hygroscopic agent such as ethylene glycol to prevent the lubricant from drying out too rapidly in use.

摘要： Combinations of carboxylic solubilizers, made by reaction of an acylating agent with an N-(hydroxyl-substituted hydrocarbyl) amine and surfactants are useful in incorporating oil-soluble, water-insoluble functional additives into aqueous systems. Typical solubilizers are made by reacting an alkyl-substituted succinic anhydride containing about 12 to about 500 carbon atoms with an alkanol amine such as diethyl ethanol amine. Typical surfactants are nonionic hydrophilic surfactants such as ethoxylated phenols and ionic surfactants of both the anionic and cationic type. Typical functional additives are anti-wear, extreme pressure and load-carrying agents such as dithiophosphates. The aqueous systems formed with the aid of such combinations are useful, for example, as water-based hydraulic fluids.

摘要： Disclosed is a coating bath and process for electrophoretically depositing a forging lubricant precoat on the surface of a titanium workpiece. The specific resistivity of the coating bath is in excess of about 400 ohm-centimeters in order to retard simultanoues anodization of the titanium during the electrophoretic deposition process. A high lead, moderate silicate, low alkali metal oxide frit is used in suspension in the bath. Advantageously, the bath also includes an anodic electrocoating resin in colloidal dispersion in the bath. By controlling the degree of anodization and preanodization of the titanium, thickness of the deposited forging lubricant precoat can be closely controlled.

摘要： Band ply lubricants, sometimes referred to as inside tire casing lubricants or inside tire dopes, are used as friction reducing and surface protective coatings during the cure of bias ply tires in particular and are applied intermediately between the interior surface of the green tire carcass and the exterior surface of a rubber bladder. A silicone and volatile hydrocarbon free, water reducible paste product comprising a zinc soap of a long chain fatty acid (zinc stearate), a long chain fatty acid ester of sorbitan, an alkylene oxide-alkylene glycol polymer and mica are combined to produce a paste which is reduced to application viscosity by spraying with approximately an equal weight of water is provided to eliminate the more costly emulsions and hydrocarbon solvent containing inside tire curing lubricants without sacrifice in quality.

摘要： Stabilized metalworking fluid compositions are disclosed comprising an oil and water dispersion and, as a stabilizer therefor, a metal complex of a metal ion and a polyfunctional organic ligand. The metal complexes have an aqueous proton induced dissociation property represented by a sigmoidally-shaped curve on a cartesian coordinate plot of the negative log of the metal ion concentration versus the negative log of hydrogen ion concentration. This dissociation property causes a controlled release of metal ion into the oil and water dispersion to impart metal working stability to the dispersion. Metal working emulsions of oil and water are stabilized by the addition thereto of minor amounts of a metal complex, e.g., disodium monocopper(II) citrate, which at alkaline pH metalworking conditions above about 7 to about 9 releases metal cations to the emulsions imparting stabilizing characteristics which prevent emulsion degradation by a number of factors commonly encountered in metalworking operations. The stabilized compositions of this invention have greatly improved service life and offer significant economies in metalworking operations.
