    摘要: A modular laser demonstration apparatus is taught by this invention and is made up of two modular assemblies, an optical resonator and a laser pump module. The optical resonator comprises a separation means and front and rear reflector assemblies. Each of the reflector assemblies has a first adjustable attachment means to adjustably attach at least one mirror selected from a set of interchangeable mirrors to its respective reflector assembly and a second attachment means comprising a plurality of clamp means to slidably mount the reflector assembly to the separation means in a manner that confines the sliding motion to a single plane along the axis of the separation means. Furthermore, the front reflector assembly has a laser beam penetration opening to allow a laser beam generated by the modular laser demonstration apparatus to exit the apparatus for use in laser demonstrations, experiments and the like. The laser pump module comprises a removable cavity module and a non-electrically conductive cavity module cradle. The removable cavity module comprising a lamp selected from a set of interchangeable lamps, a lase material rod selected from a set of interchangeable lase material rods, a modular optical coupler selected from a set of interchangeable optical couplers, each optical coupler of said set having an optical coupling face and an outer peripheral shape. The outer peripheral shape being the same among all optical couplers to ensure interchangeability.

In a preferred embodiment, the optical system includes: a laser diode bar for emitting from an elongated emissive area thereof a bright light having a lateral divergence and a transverse divergence; and an optical assembly disposed between the laser diode bar and the three-level solid state laser for collecting and focusing the bright light into a relatively small high-intensity spot to end-pump the gain medium of the three-level or self-terminating solid state laser.

    摘要: An air cooled, flash lamp pumped, solid state laser device wherein heating devices are disposed on the laser rod at both ends to heat and temperature stabilize the laser rod. The solid state, laser rod is longer than the arc length of the flash lamp. The ends of the laser rod can be heated directly by winding heating wire, such as Nichrome, around each end or by applying heat through thermal conductive supports. A feedback loop is provided to maintain temperature of the solid state laser rod, which is preferably Alexandrite, within a desired range of 80.degree. C. to 120.degree. C.

    摘要: In a solid-state laser device comprising a slab-shaped laser medium, first through n-th excitation units are arranged on the slab-shaped laser medium to define first through n-th partial zones and to generate first through n-th laser beams from the first through n-th partial zones along optical axes, respectively. In order to selectively energize the first through n-th excitation units, a reference light beam is previously generated by a beam generator to be delivered through a fixed mirror and a beam distributor to a selected one of the first through n-th partial zones. Thereafter, the reference light beam travels through the slected partial zone to be received by a photosensor. The photosensor detects the selected partial zone to energize a selected one of the first through n-th excitation units that is made to correspond to the selected partial zone. The selected partial zone is excited by the selected excitation unit to generate a selected one of the first through n-th laser beams that is produced through the fixed mirror as the output laser beam. The beam distributor may comprise a rotatable prismal block and first through n-th reflectors which are selectively confronted with the first through n-th partial zones during rotation of the prismal block. Alternatively, first through n-th reflectors may be attached to a support pole.

    摘要: A multiple crystal, single pumping cavity laser system comprises an optical pumping chamber, several laser crystal rods disposed in the chamber and having differently sized diameters and with their axes parallel, an optical coupling device for coupling the rods in a chain of increasing diametrical size, an optical pumping source for providing an optimum pumping level for the largest rod, and attenuators for all but the largest sized rod for attenuating the energy absorbed by the smaller rods. All of the laser rods are disposed and pumped in a single pumping chamber. The housing containing the pumping chamber is thermally and mechanically isolated from the rail holding the other system components to prevent shock from being transmitted to the other components.
