    摘要: A solid-state laser device includes: a first water tank which houses a laser rod and a lamp and into which coolant is introduced; an outer inlet which is provided in a member forming a chamber and through which coolant is received into the chamber; and an outer outlet provided in said member and through which a coolant is discharged to the outside of the chamber. The solid-state laser device further includes: two second water tanks that house electrodes of both ends of the lamp, respectively, and communicate with the first water tank; a coolant inflow passage of which one end communicates with the outer inlet and the other end forms inner inlets opened to only the second water tanks; and a coolant outflow passage of which one end communicates with the outer outlet and the other end forms an inner outlet opened to the first water tank.

    摘要: The present invention provides an apparatus and method for pumping solid-state lasers and amplifiers. More specifically, to a method and apparatus for pumping solid-state lasers and amplifiers using Light Emitting Diode (LED) arrays. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a gain medium, a plurality of LEDs in optical communication with the gain medium to excite the gain medium, the plurality of LEDs arranged in an LED array, a driving circuit to energize the LED array, and a thermoelectric cooler to reduce the temperature of the LED array, wherein the gain medium is pumped by the LED array to emit a laser light.

    摘要: Air-cooled laser devices and formation methods are provided. An exemplary air-cooled laser device can include at least a laser active slab, a first silicon carbide clad, a second silicon carbide clad, a first laser diode array, and a first cylindrical lens. The first and second silicon carbide clads can be symmetrically bonded to the laser active slab and can have a surface area greater than the laser active slab to form an air duct surrounding side surfaces of the laser active slab and between the silicon carbide clads. The first laser diode array can emit first input pump laser beams to be collimated by the first cylindrical lens to provide parallel and quasi-parallel pump laser beams that are guided by the air duct to enter into the laser active slab from at least a first side surface of the laser active slab.

    摘要: A laser apparatus has a multipath solid-state slab laser rod and an excitation source that excites it, and uses a solid-state slab laser rod that has a trapezoid or parallelogram-shaped cross section along the optical path, that is provided with six or more faces and that has a light amplifying effect or a nonlinear optical effect. The light that is incident to the laser rod is totally reflected at the incident-light end face and exit end face of the laser rod, passes back through the interior of the laser rod a plurality of times, e.g., three times, and then exits. For light amplification, excitation light is shined from the side face. In addition, for nonlinear optical effects, the z-axis of a nonlinear optical crystal is disposed so as to be orthogonal to the plane of the optical path, and the temperature of the solid-state slab laser rod is kept at the phase-matching temperature. This laser apparatus of this configuration solves drawbacks of prior-art laser rods so that the high conversion rate from excitation light to laser light is obtained at a high laser gain.

    摘要: A solid state laser has an elongate slab of lasing material having a rectangular cross section with the lower face of the slab contacting a slab mount which is of a high thermal conductivity material. Energy to drive the lasing medium is provided by a flash lamp. Upper and lower faces of the slab are polished to an optically smooth finish so that light is able to propagate in a generally axial direction through the slab. Side faces of the slab are polished and then re-roughened to provide a finish with a surface damage zone comparable in depth to the wavelength of the lasing emission. For a lasing wavelength of one micrometer, the depth of surface damage is in the region of one micrometer.
