Abstract: A live view control device according to an aspect of the present invention includes a display control unit that displays each of a plurality of live view images received from a plurality of imaging devices in each of a plurality of areas of a display screen, a priority setting unit that sets a priority of the plurality of live view images, a transfer condition setting unit that sets transfer conditions including at least one of a frame rate of transfer and an image size of the transfer of the plurality of live view images on the basis of the priority of the plurality of live view images, and a communication control unit that transmits a transfer instruction for a live view image according to the set transfer conditions to the plurality of imaging devices via the wireless communication unit.

Abstract: A method includes receiving media content at a media server and encoding the media content to form a first content stream. The method includes encoding an audio portion of the media content to form a second content stream having a first bit rate. The method includes causing the first content stream to be transmitted to a media device via a satellite distribution system and causing the second content stream to be concurrently transmitted to the media device via a terrestrial distribution system. The method includes receiving an indication of a disruption of the first content stream at the media device. The method also includes, after receiving the indication, causing a third content stream to be transmitted from the media server to the media device via the terrestrial distribution system. The third stream has a second bit rate greater than the first bit rate.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to real-time streaming of large quantities of time critical data over multiple distinct networks from a wireless communications device. More specifically, embodiments described herein may address challenges and problems of maintaining consistent data reception quality when faced with the anomalies of a moving sender that is sending data using a relatively unstable radio frequency (RF) method. This may be achieved by converting single source data into multiple data streams, placing them in transport buffers and storing them for forwarding. A plurality radio frequency interface modules provide wireless connectivity to a plurality of wireless networks for transmission over the plurality of networks. Links are maintained to provide feedback on network connections to allow for the transfer of data from one network to another, from one radio frequency interface module to another, and to adjust the amount of data being transmitted.

Abstract: In some aspects, the disclosure is directed to methods and systems for providing 360-degree video. One or more viewport engines receives 360-degree video data, and generates a plurality of versions of the 360-degree video data. Each version has a corresponding primary viewing direction, independently decodable units (IDUs) of video data arranged according to a sequence, and image resolution for the corresponding primary viewing direction that is higher than image resolutions for other viewing directions. A streaming server streams a first IDU of video content from a first version of the plurality of versions of the 360-degree video data to a client for rendering at the client, and receives feedback according to the rendering at the client. Responsive to the update in viewing direction, the streaming server dynamically switches to a second version of the plurality of versions that has a primary viewing direction comprising the second viewing direction.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for adapting playback bit rate in a content delivery system based on scene complexity of the video content as well as network conditions and other performance factors. A scene complexity map of the video content indicates the complexity levels of different scenes within the video content. Using the scene complexity map, a content player may download scenes of lower scene complexity levels from video streams encoded to lower bit rates to manage the bandwidth consumed to download the video content and allow for the downloading of scenes of higher complexity levels from video streams encoded to higher bit rates.

Abstract: A player receives encoded content of a first resolution level from a content retransmitter and monitors bandwidth of the communication connection utilized to receive the content. When the bandwidth changes with respect to various threshold values corresponding to various resolution levels, the player signals the content retransmitter to increase or decrease the encoding resolution for future portions. The player also locates related substitute content. When the player signals the content retransmitter to decrease the resolution below a minimum, the player plays the substitute content instead of the received content. Subsequently when the bandwidth is again such that player signals the content retransmitter to increase the resolution to the minimum or above, the player plays the received content instead of the substitute content. In various implementations, the player may obtain substitute content prior to or at the time the player determines to play substitute content.

Abstract: A scheme for managing ABR streaming of content in a wireless radio network environment that may have radio white spot areas. Upon determining that the wireless UE device executing an ABR client application is in a radio white spot area, the current ABR streaming session may be suspended at a particular segment. Thereafter, playback of other content locally cached at the wireless UE device may be commenced in lieu of the ABR media segments. When the wireless UE device exits the radio white spot area, the ABR streaming session may be resumed from a point adjacent to the particular segment where the ABR streaming session was suspended.
